If you think that is bad you should consider what is in the food and air. It is a long long time since anything was as pure as the driven snow. You want the ipod and cheap food and clean water - you can't have everything you know. A little mercury from a coal burning generator and a few chemicals from the sprays on food and the incredible manure piles from industrial meat farms and chemicals for your lawn so it won't have any dandilions and no dog can walk on it and all the chemicals from all the junk you buy such as air purifiers (an oxymoron) and plastic everything. Every little bit adds up. And it all goes into the trash where it then leaches into the water.
Studies have concluded that even the driven snow contains mercury. You don't even want to know the total weight of heavy metals that are now found in our atmosphere, combine with moisture, and then fall back to earth in all forms of precipitation. The heaviest biologic accumulations of
DDT are now found in the Inuit natives in northern Canada. There's literally no place left to hide.
