On second thought, maybe we should let Texas have it's independence. Our national IQ would go up instantly. It's disgusting that anyone thinks there is some "right" for the government to murder it's own people. It is never "right" to kill someone, let alone an innocent (and very very dead) man.
this is a very large state with lots of rural uneducated people. speaking as a native texan currently residing in Austin tx, ( a small "island" of progressive ideas" ) the conservative party uses the same tactics here,on the uneducated,as are used throughout the country. Scare tactics, lies and manipulation.
Oh,and lets not forget the southern Christians with their fine Christian values.
Who would Jesus kill?
Stop attacking "Texas" and confront lack of education and how its used by one particular section of politicians
texas problems go beyond its uneducated. there is a nastiness of spirit that is worn like a badge of honor by those who identify as her exemplar sons. in terms of national politics, it is like some enemy state churning out and infiltrating our political system with fifth columnists. if we lost texas this nation would be better off.
We're sorry we rushed to judgment, like in many of our past capital punishment cases, to execute an innocent man. We're even sorrier still that we may get sued by his relatives due to our sheer stupidity in not pursuing the truth.
Even worse, we're sorry that we're gonna have to spend EVEN MORE of the taxpayer's money to continue to find the person(s) responsible for this crime, although we killed the one guy we were halfway certain did it in the first place, even though we were wrong all along.
This was always my biggest fear about the death penalty, that the government could make a mistake. Keep government weak and small and that means it shouldn't have the power to kill people. Don't think this issue gets devided among partisan lines.
I am never surprised by the lack of compassion and sense coming from the state of Texas after having lived there for 17 years, 1970-1987. I also am sorry for Cameron Willingham. If we had a federal ban on the death sentence things like this wouldn't happen.
Besides which, it costs less to maintain a prisoner for life than to maintain a prisoner on death row. Any Republicans out there listening? You know…cheaper, more efficient, fiscally responsible?
I knew this had to be a hoax, The Governor of TX, Perry, would never, ever apologize for executing an innocent man. There were several excellent opinions of his innocence before he was executed and Perry and the Board ignored it.

Please Texas, SECEDE ! Just go. Be your own country. Bye-Bye
FWIW
Amen. They only gave us a couple of decent things: Joe Buck and Janis Joplin.
Yep, see what happens when you give the government the control over deciding who dies. And we want them to handle health care?
Seriously. We should put McDonalds in charge of capital punishment, don't you think? A nice sparkly turnkey business.
Yeah, a franchise.

Only one apology?
And we want government to run our health care and make life and death decisions for all?
Oh heavens no! We'd rather have people who are in it for the profit to make those decisions.

Yep...
Oops!...
Sincerely: The State Of Texas.
Why not just jettison Texas? It's psychopathic,
A Memo from the State of Texas:
Uh, we sorry.

Oops. Our bad.
The fire that killed his children was accidental, possibly caused by one of the children themselves.
