You can't blame Danny Boyle for these children's poverty. There are millions of child slum dwellers in India. Is he supposed to take care of them, too? What about blame the Indian govt. or the Indian people who don't seem to care that much, or the economic system? how about blame the caste system and religious issues that keep these people exploited and in poverty. Also, the filmmakers can't just take a child away from his or her family, even if the family is poor. Poverty doesn't equate with abuse, and these children love their family. What Danny Boyle did was to set up a trust fund for the children, and has arranged to provide homes and adequate education, medical care, etc, to the child stars and their families. however, if the children received the money now, it would be gone quickly by illiterate people who never had more than a few bucks a day and all of a sudden come into riches. IS this what's best for these children in the long term? Danny Boyle did the right thing by setting up a trust. They will be well cared for. But he isn't the parent's father, and there's only so much he can do.
I run an educational project in a slum in kathmandu, nepal. let me tell you, many slum kids who get an education go on to great things, and often have very happy (if poor) childhoods.

You made a lot of assumptions that aren't in my little video. I never blame Danny Boyle, and I never say take the kids away from their parents. I also never said these kids couldn't ultimately grow up to be wonderful people doing wonderful things. All I said is that the star of "Slumdog" is currently homeless, drinking tainted water, with no electricity. I know the filmmakers set up a trust fund with a mysterious amount of money in it that the kids can't get at right now. But that does little for their current situation. As much as I want to believe the filmmakers have done everything they could, I refuse to believe that when a film takes in $330 million, there's no way to help the star get clean water. Do you disagree? Let me guess, your response is, "You can't just thrust a kid into clean water when all he's known is whole life is tainted water. It will ruin him."
And as for the millions of other kids in the slums, I never bring them in to the equation. Why? Because they didn't earn $330 million for Fox. Of course their situation is sad as well, but that's a whole separate story.

Danny Boyle isn't even in the video though the producers homes are.Sounds like you are going off on a tangent. These kids were hired for a job and apparently the "opportunity" didn't improve their circumstances - this is commonly known as irony. Just imagine how much a kid in America would make after a blockbuster like this one the story would play out quite differnt, hence the Indian kids are being exploited and money could be spent in a way that would improve their current life not their future life which they may enjoy if they don't survive these next years of poverty and homelesness.

I can't believe that no one involved in that movie has taken responsibility for getting at least these kids out of poverty. It is an obscenity.

How about the millions of people in the U.S. and around the world who paid $9 a ticket to see the movie? If the child's father makes between $30 and $60 a month, that's like the equivalent of four to six movie tickets. Maybe people should spend less on movies and entertainment and give more to charity. Talk about obscene.
