Love it. Where was our media to document our own protestors? I forgot protestors in this country are just disrupting traffic, etc. They are just lazy ....

Now we have all the people who wanted to drop bombs in Iran saying that we should intervene military to defend democracy in Iran.

I defend the protestors. Iranian people know what they want and they are the only ones that can change the rules in their country. Any interference would be a disaster.

Photos from the USA. And you could have taken similar photos in Canada or the UK.

Our own leaders created the lead that Supreme Leader of Iran is following. Yes, his police are being more lethal than our police, but it is not as if our police are never lethal.

Just this year a peaceful bystander at the G20 demonstration in London, England died from the effects of being physically assaulted by police.

Our own government leaders and our own police do not believe in the right of the public to peacefully demonstrate "here". It is only a right "there".

Or you could go to the discussion of how the election results don't add up--from Ohio, in 2004.

but how to fit Florida's fiasco, is a question to mull over--there were phony, staged protests there, to shut down a recount that the GOP didn't want to have go forward. Is there a parallel with Iran for that?

The U.S. media ignored one million American protesters at the 2004 Republican National Convention. New York became a police -state and 1,806 were arrested during the week.
When Americans protest the illegal war in Iraq we are tarred as anti-American. Seek
truth and justice in America and you are labeled a troublemaker. If you are Iranian you are courageous and struggling 'to have your voce heard.' Smell the hypocrisy.

I thought I was the only only who felt that way.

You're not alone. Those of us who protested against the Iraq war and saw what happened at the protests at the RNC in 2004 and in 2008 know all about the hypocisy. We know about the tear gas an the beatings and the arrests. People just got arrested near the White House recently for protesting US war crimes by the Bush Administration. They were US citizens demanding accountability and they were hauled off to jail. So yeah, all this talk by the US government about human rights and respecting demonstrators is a joke. Let's not forget Kent State University during the Vietnam War, that's when US law enforcement shot and killed student protesters. Didn't hear any foreign governments sounding off then. And why isn't the media doing a little background comparison just to let viewers know that the US has shot and killed demonstrators throughout its history as well?

As at the Republican National Convention and in Iran, might makes right. Always has, always will.

It's easy to keep straight, really. Just remember, property first, civil rights second.

Oh, thank you, Lee for your images of historic truth. My first contact with "riot" police was on the campus of San Francisco Sate College back in 1968. A friend and I skipped classes at our nearby high school to help another friend who was a photographer for the local public broadcast station news.

Peaceful protest until the "Tac-Squad" showed up. We were off to the side helping with camera gear when the first tear gas canisters were fired. Our friend told us to run, and run we did as fast as we could away from the scene.

Little did we know that what we witnessed was only a minor preview of the brutal police action horrors that were yet to come in our beloved "free speech" nation.

Well done Lee Camp !!!

This is why FASCISM thrives when it controls the media.

Fortunately we have a few truth telling websites like HUFFPOST.

Thank you, Lee! Excellent point.

I often wonder what would have happened if the Iraqi people had been Twittering and YouTubing during "shock and awe" or our subsequent invasion. We're more than willing to cast shame on foreign governments when they commit brutal acts against innocent people, but we're reluctant or unwilling to recognize that we have plenty to be ashamed of as well.

If Iraqis had been Twittering and YouTubing the US would've blocked it for sure and the media would not have covered it. Any and all cell phone images would've been discredited too.

I saw footage of the U.S. bombing the Al Jazeera office in Bagdad during "Shock & Awe". Make that Shocking and Awful.
