I spoke to Cherie Shirey, Assignment Manager for TV station KTVA in Anchorage and she made the following statement...
"These internet rumors are very bizarre. We worked with Governer Palin many times in 2008. Our reporters worked her on location and in the studio and I worked with her myself. She was definitely pregnant. You could see it in her belly and her face. The whole idea that Sarah Palin wasn't pregnant with Trig is completely, absolutely absurd. "
It's a KTVA reporter in this picture with Governor Palin. Shirey confirmed the photo was taken in April, 2008.
Update: The picture was taken in 2008. This is confirmed.
However, a commentator points out that according to this link from Flickr, the picture WASN'T taken in 2008 but in fact seems to have been taken in March, 2005.
Here's why the March, 2005 is wrong - that camera wasn't announced until the end of July 2005. So now the conspiracy involves TIME TRAVEL, as well!
The time problem is why I called in the first place. The photo is from when Palin was Governor, end of the 2008 session, multiple witnesses, video tape...all the things sane people need to come to reasonable conclusions.
The incorrect 2005 date is easily explained - they didn't set the date correctly. I've done that. Look at these Piroshkis that Flickr says I took digital photos of in 1972, when I was seven years old! Those things are delish, by the way.

Try this brilliant deduction from Buddyblazon on DU which he calls "Sarah Palin's Pregnancy Decision Map." It's under General Discussion. Copy and paste with your browser if you have to. It's a must read.

Funniest thing I've ever read -- and factually true.
Enjoy!
It's easy to get a pregnancy pillow/strap-on. Actors use them all the time. Not saying that's what she did but if the story were true, you can bet she'd be smart enough to purchase/get one.
Internet rumors like this one is what gives internet rumors a bad name.
Evidence?
You have to admit that Palin's story about her birth of Trig stinks like an NFL locker room. At the very least you are talking negligence, especially when she supposedly knew she was having a Down's Syndrome baby, which carries with it possible severe complications.
Her husban was arrested for drunk driving!!
Who cares!
I am not obstretrician but if a woman with a leaky sac gets on an airplane for a long flight, aren't there huge risks due to pressure changes in the cabin in the airplane on takeoff, in flight, landing? And that is completely aside from the length of the flight. Any thoughts from someone who knows something about this sort of thing? All I know is that after a long flight I feel that my feet start to swell from interior pressure.
The main risk is infection to both mother and child, and Down syndrome babies can be especially infection-prone.
I've had a chance to ask two OB/GYN's what they think. The first said she would have gone so far as to put a note detailing her objection to her patient's actions in her file in the event harm came to mother or child; the other said he would have told her to "get her ass to a Texas hospital."
as a labor and delivery RN...I agree the main risk is infection....but also with a premature baby you worry about things like umbilical cord prolapse which causes the umbilical cord to come out before the baby and cutting off oxygen to the baby.
Hey, I've been to the movies...Ashley Judd in "High Crimes'...William Macy's, supposed, daughter-in-law in 'The Cooler...they make nice little pads to make you look pregnant. This thing still stinks to high heaven.
Whether or not who had what baby has nothing to do with anything. We cannot be distracted from the issues with this sort of "Entertainment Tonight" campaign that McCain and the GOP are running. Personal matters, private family matters of the candidates are not what we should be talking about. We have to remain focused on the economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the economy, the environment, the economy.
What does it say about us when we are collectively more interested in the prurient details of others' private lives than we are in the future of our nation and our children?
How about personal judgement? Would any mother knowingly put her daughter through such international humiliation for a raise or promotion? This is not about private life but public life.
DNA test are in order, I was always told that you should believe nothing you read and half of what you see. Anyway, the reporter looks superimposed.
Tthis whole "liberal bloggers spreading rumors" deal is pure subterfuge. Blame the liberals once again. Pleeze.
The issue is not pregnancy.
The issue is LYING. Remember, the cover up is worse than the crime.
Also, POOR JUDGEMENT.
You want a VP or POTUS than exhibits POOR JUDGEMENT in a crisis?
Mr. Stranahan, if people want to believe something, no amount of evidence will change their mind. You of all people should know this after the Edwards affair.
Personally, I think this baby story was planted by Republican operatives who knew that the stupidest and most naive of Obama supporters would take it and run with it. When this rumor gets even more widespread - and then is totally debunked with irrefutable evidence - it is only going to generate sympathy for Palin and her family. Sympathy = votes. Democrats really are their own worst enemy.
Wrong. Just put it ou there and let it fly. How many hillbillies believe Barack is muslim?
Dude, this controversy that started in the blogosphere eventually forced her to fess up about her daughter's alleged current pregnancy.
So this wasn't TOTALLY without foundation.
Lee, don't tell me. Tell Move On and Daily Kos.
Those photos are definitely from 2008, not 2005....
1) The Flikr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/30076181@@N02/) indicates they were taken on the last day of the 25th legislature and the 25th legislature is now between it's 1st and second second.
2) The picture refers to *Governor* Palin and She wasn't the governor in 2005.
Bad link.
My issues about Sara Palin and her being PG was that she flew when 9 months pregnant. The airlines do not like you to fly much beyond 6 months. How come she thought it OK to put the plane at risk because she wanted to get back to Alaska.
Why are there not newspaper articles in Alaska about he being PG? After all, having a child while in public office is a big thing - not many women have done that - a highly newsworthy event! I reckon that all the news services would have fallen over themselves to report this, and the news services devoted to women's issues would have been delighted to report on her PGness. And given that she is in politics, and we know how political people will take anything to have themselves be on the front page, why did she not play up the enormous sacrifice she was making.
And to think of the effort it would take to nurse a child and run a State at the same time!
Bad judgment all around!
the whole thing stinks on ice
