Marc Maron Talks About His WTF Podcast

What's Your Reaction:

Marc Maron is widely respected by his peers and fans for his long career in stand-up comedy and his work as an Air America Radio host on a number of shows. His WTF podcast is required listening for comedy nerds and anyone who likes smart, introspective monologues. His interviews with people like comedian David Cross or writer Jerry Stahl are personal and revealing; closer to listening to friends talk than any sort of slick, packaged interview.

The best part of WTF, though, is listening to Maron as he works through the thoughts that swim in his head about his day to day life, personal issues and work. These parts of the podcast are honest, interesting and funny in a way that doesn't depend on punchlines.

Here's my talk with Marc Maron about the WTF podcast (available at WTFPod.com), how it's affected his audience and whether there are any downsides to being less pissed off.

Maron will also be doing a WTF taping at the UCB Theatre in LA on Jan. 22nd at 8PM with Jeff Garlin, Jimmy Pardo, Kate Micucci , Eddie Pepitone and Jim Earl.

Cool! Love the podcast - & I've been following all Maron's endeavors since 1st hearing him on Air America. His original program offered some of the best radio comedy since National Lampoon.

P.S. You can still hear plenty of excerpts @ http://www.thesnotgreensea.com/

Much has been written about Mr Maron's comedic ability over the last 20 years but what is not discussed, and bears pointing out, is that he takes the time to communicate with his fans who appreciate his work. Using social media outlets like FB he responds and engages with his audience in a way quite uncommon for a personality of his stature. Anyone not familar with his WTF podcast should definetly check it out and im sure whatever breed of comedy interests you, comedic satisfaction will be the end result. Bravo Mr. Maron!
