Luminaries from New York City's fashion and art worlds came out in droves last night to support Man's Best Friend.
The Humane Society of New York held its third Benefit Photography Auction at designer Diane von Furstenberg's DVF Studio in the Meatpacking District; the evening's co-chairs included Vogue's Grace Coddington, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and actor Adrien Brody.
Guests nibbled on hors d'oeuvres and bid on photography donated by the likes of Milton H. Greene, Annie Leibovitz, and Timothy Greenfield-Sanders. Jamie Niven, Vice Chairman of Sotheby's, presided over a live auction of some of the most important works.
Socialites and fashionistas in attendance included Vogue's Lauren Santo Domingo, Fabiola Beracasa, and Cornelia Guest; yet the real stars of the evening were Lucky, Suki, Gus, and Kiko, several stylish canines on hand to remind guests of the evening's beneficiaries.
"My cat, Latte, came from a San Francisco animal shelter," said fashion photographer Stephan Wurth, who donated a photograph from his upcoming book, Ghost Town. "He was off the streets. I totally support the Humane Society in NYC; we've got to keep them in business."
