Rush's Revisionist Reading Rainbow

Limbaugh says that his book, titled, will tell "just the truthful history of the Pilgrims" and "the true story of Thanksgiving."

Paul Revere sure gets around! No more is he merely riding around at midnight "ringing those bells" and sending "warning shots" to tell the British that they can't take away our guns. Nope. Turns out Paul Revere can be anywhere he wants to be -- now that he has a time-traveling horse!

Or, at least, that's what he has in a new kids' book coming out in October. The book's author hopes it'll be "fun" to, in his words, "correct what's happening in public education today" by letting the time-trotting American patriot take readers on a tour of history. But not just any old history. This is going to be, according to the author, "accurate" history, which is apparently a far cry from what kids are getting in public schools these days, mostly owing to the impostor in the White House who, the book's author says, poisonously believes that "exceptional Americans are few and far between."

So let's all hop on Paul Revere's magic horsey and gallop off to see what makes us Americans so darn special, shall we?

Or, let's not -- seeing as this kids' book was written by none other than the exceptionally idiotic Rush Limbaugh. And because it's not even Paul Revere, it's "Rush Revere," Limbaugh's alter ego, a supposed "modern-day Paul Revere" who's offering to take us on this journey exploring what he considers "fundamental American values."

Unsurprisingly, conservative parents are eating this gunk up; pre-orders on Amazon have pushed the book over the top. Rush told his radio listeners how "humbled" he is by the enthusiastic conservative response. And he couldn't resist the opportunity to take a swipe at "leftists" who, he says sadly, will just never understand what it means to feel humble.

Rush knows the true meaning of being humble? The same man who gave one of the worst apologies on record after being raked over the coals for calling Sandra Fluke a "slut"? If this is the kind of lesson he wants to teach our kids, forget it.

Limbaugh says that his book, titled Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans, will tell "just the truthful history of the Pilgrims" and "the true story of Thanksgiving."

And Rush has claimed to have told the "real story" of Thanksgiving before, which, according to Limbaugh, is the story of "how socialism failed."

How dare they not teach that in public schools! Thank Republican Jesus™ that we have Rush Revere to ride to our children's rescue.

And yet, despite all this -- and despite his using the book's publicity as an opportunity to slam liberals and President Obama and everything else he hates at every turn -- Rush insists that, when it comes to his kids book: "There's no politics in this."

Seriously. No politics. In a Rush Limbaugh book about the true story of Thanksgiving. Which, he says, "long before Karl Marx was even born," was when the Pilgrims discovered socialism, tried it, and dropped it quicker than you'd drop a blanket dipped in smallpox.

But there's no politics in any of that.

Well, since Rush's book doesn't come out until October, we'll just have to take his word for it until we can judge for ourselves. Meanwhile, we're wondering: What's the next title of a kid's book that Rush will claim has no political agenda? What do YOU think?
