Liane is the CEO and Co-founder of Tastybaby along with her business partner, Shannan Swanson. Tastybaby is both a line of frozen organic baby food and lifestyles website.

Liane was born and raised in Manhattan, NY, where city life presents some challenges to healthy eating and living. After attending Columbia University (BA), Oxford University and USC School of Journalism (MA), Liane worked as a local television news reporter (United Paramount Network). In that capacity, she encountered many people with heart-gripping stories, the most touching of whom were children. Her commitment to the environment and to protecting children and their world from the hazards created by previous generations is an integral part of Tastybaby™. A self-taught cook and the mother of two, Liane has a passion for food and good nutrition. As proof that apples don’t fall far from the tree, her 2½ year-old daughter, Ava, prefers salad over spaghetti. Her 1-year-old son has been the official Tastybaby™ food tester since he started eating. Liane and her husband, Richard, also have five crazy dogs!

Summertime & the Livin' is Easy...

I know I should be happy-go-lucky this month, I really do. It's August and everyone's lounging on the beach, playing hooky from work and generally just sipping lemonade all day long, but there's something that has me so fired up that I just can't...

Freedom from Junk

It's true that kids seem to "arrive" with their personalities already in place. In my relatively brief experience as a parent (almost 5 years so far), it's pretty obvious that both my children -- who are very different from each other in many aspects -- have had clear-cut dispositions and...

Mother's Day, Every Day

Posted May 5, 2009 | 01:42 PM (EST)

Sometimes it's hard to believe that I've only been a mom for a few years -- my oldest child is 4 1/2. Yet, when I think of how to describe myself, "mother of 2" is what pops into my mind, long before "entrepreneur." And it feels like more than just...

Having planted an organic vegetable garden and seen the impact on my own family, I feel a kinship of spirit toward Michelle Obama that seems to grow day-by-day. That this woman has put on the national agenda the very things that mean so much to me is exhilarating beyond words....

Bailing Out Babies

With the country in the midst of an economic crisis, and big business looking to the government for a bail-out, the American public is left to wonder, "What about us?" And as the co-founder of a small business that prides itself on social responsibility, I've been wondering, "What can we...

Resolution for Evolution

Since I've been an adult, I cannot think of a New Year that's been so universally anticipated... longed for, really. "Out with the old" seems to have become a global mantra (along with "Yes, we can!") that people of every possible background have been muttering with OCD-like intensity, right up...

A Tasty Mom's Take On This Holiday Season

Something isn't adding up for me ... why does everyone I Iook at seem to be smiling? You would think that, given the craziness of the world these days -- the economy in a slump and all sorts of businesses scrambling for survival -- everyone around me would be depressed...

Change is in the Air

Posted November 4, 2008 | 11:27 AM (EST)

There's no denying it - change is in the air. It's the pervasive theme in the rhetoric of every political candidate, regardless of his or her affiliation. It's in the attitude of everyone confronting their financial statements and household budgets, regardless of income. It's truly in the atmosphere, as we...

Malibu: A Little Worse for Wear, But Still the Awe-Inspiring Place I Call Home

Posted October 30, 2007 | 05:50 PM (EST)

When you choose to live in Malibu, wildfires are a way of life. While autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year here, when the Santa Ana winds kick up, it's usually the signal that "fire season" is upon us. I learned this the hard way when our...

A "Dream Event" for Dance

Posted June 22, 2007 | 04:48 PM (EST)

It's amazing how gratifying it is to see an idea come to fruition, especially in the unpredictable realm of fundraising events. First, one comes up with a notion -- really, a conceit -- and spins all sorts of dreams and ambitions for what the event could become, if every element...

My Mom: With Me Now More Than Ever

Posted May 4, 2007 | 03:46 PM (EST)

It's hard to say at what age a girl needs her mother most, but arguably 16 - my age when my mother became ill and subsequently died - is a landmark year.

There is such a jumble of incomplete thoughts and incoherent emotions in most teenage girls, that when...
