God help us. CNN is doing what they are paid to do. Find something critical to say about everything.
Watching the opening night of the Democratic Convention, I was amazed and appalled by the CNN coverage. Even though I knew they had to fill up time, all they did was complain that there was no "red meat" and no attacks on McCain. Even the Democrats, including Carville, complained. What party is he in, anyway?
Is anyone listening to the American people? Maybe we're tired of the attacks all the time. Maybe we don't want CNN to keep pushing the Clinton-Obama so-called conflict. Maybe we want to just watch and come to our own conclusions. But NO. Wolf Blitzer and gang had to tell us what to think every step of the way. I wanted a little time to just think about what I was hearing and seeing, but they gave us no time to do that..
Perhaps the earliest hours were not as interesting as Ted Kennedy's appearance and Michelle Obama's amazingl presentation, but for those who live in the Central or West regions of the U.S., we missed those early presentations and Ted and Michelle were the presentations we wanted to watch. We didn't expect the earlier presentations to be all that dynamic, although Claire McCaskill was terrific even though CNN didn't deem her important enough to cover.
There is a channel or two (C-Span and one called DNC08) that only carries the convention podium live and doesn't annoy us with the talking heads. Folks, I call on you to watch those stations. Boycott CNN. They didn't air many of the earlier speeches, obsessed with their own anchors. Enough already!
Please save us from CNN and these so-called pundits. You want red meat? Eat your own.

I absolutely abhor any news shows with play by play punditry. It's C-Span for me.
CNN is getting to be as bad as Fox these days.
I was a die hard CNN fan, even watched a little CNN Headline.
I don't even recognize these people anymore. Campbell Brown lost me months ago.
okay...I too will switch to c-span (I hope my cable plan has it!)...eve n MSNBC...is ticking me off...Olbe rman and Matthews.. ..talking head....I used to like Keith..but he's losing it...I do like Rachel...b ut come on....I had to check several stations to hear the usually looney Gov. Schweitzer of Montana give a ROUSING speech...h ate to admit it..but he rocked..!. ..
er nanner
I don't NEED these people fomenting a "fight" between Barak and the Hillary camp...but you can just see how they drool over the possible ratings they'd get from such..as well as the kvetching about how "nice" the demo's are...NOT getting really really mean with McCain... they want an ugly bar room brawl..and Denver is not giving them one...nann
One point- Why do you hate to admit it concerning the Montana governor? He is loony but an entertaining speaker who is a genuine character. Do you how hard it is to become a governor of that state? He's done a good job ruining the state. I could not agree more with your comment about the fake "fight" that was advertised nonstop.
I think im a step ahead on this one
Thank you for this article and I truly hope people will turned from CNN. I think the only talking head I like on that station is Jack Cafferty. The rest of them are only interested in "Breaking News" and telling people what they should be thinking. These people live in a bubble but are constantly trying to translate the news for people they have no clue how they really live. And why do they always find the last nut not uncovered by Fox to interview. It's like they strike gold if they find a supporter against Obama and it's double gold if it's a black person. That woman last night was an embarrassement to the education system.
i'm joining your boycott of CNN. their pundits are fighting each over so they can get some camera time and put in their two cents. screw them. C-span it is.
I have not watched CNN since the primary and will not watch their bias coverage of the GE. I call on the people in Atlanta, Ga to protest in front of the CNN headquarters for such bias coverage of their coverage.
Linda, I agree with your article. I actually blogged on CNN to let them know I had switched to C-SPan to get away from the non-factual drama. I don't know what has happened to them. Soledad O'Brien was about to have a clip roll of John McCain "not remembering" how many houses he had; as I watched the screen, it immediately went to a COMMERCIAL. I guess corporate America has handed down the marching orders. "Pro McCain". CNN does not deserve the ratings. Let's watch elsewhere. After 1 1/2 years of political spin, I'm done; stick a fork in me.
I think CNN has been way over the top lately. I've been watching MSNBC for most of my political coverage, because they switch things up with one-on-one interviews as well as talking to average citizens on the DNC floor and the demonstrators outside. Also the journalists, commentators and pundits are less annoying on MSNBC. Campbell Brown, James Carville and Wolf Blizter are just so annoying!!
.Will CNN give as much coverage to the Democrats during the Republican convention??
CNN has just been so overwhelmingly pessimistic, that I didn't even bother watching them today. They've kinda taken the baton from Fox News with all of these negative spins on the Obama campaign, while steadily giving McCain a free pass.
That's why I'll be very interested in next week's RNC convention
I switched to C-SPAN last night, after a few minutes of being disgusted by CNN and even MSNBC. Thank G-d for -SPAN.
GO CSPAN. "WE LOVE YOU DENVER, CITY BY THE BAY"
The best thing you can do is watch CSpan.
I turned to CNN for a minute after Michelle's speech and I heard this juvenile, smart-aleky voice, immediately assumed it was a Republican "journalist" and swithced stations.
I always love seeing Linda Bergthold's posts. She is thoughtful, brilliant and timely. She hits it on the nail again. Way to go, girl!
Aye, there's the rub. ..then they have no interest whatsoever in letting real moments pass without their mitts all over it.
The Corporate Media doesn't want you to think your own thoughts. The CorpMedia doesn't want you to see something without their hands all over it, warping it, twisting it, molding it, chiseling it. Working and reworking it, until it becomes their item and no longer public domain, a real instance that really happened. If they allowed that there would be chaos! If you have carefully crafted an alternate, dumbed down, confused and hysterical reality...
THey can't give you a chance to form your own opinions. It is absolutely contrary to their mission.
