Consumer Is King of Media Transformation

What is driving media transformation? One can argue that technological advances have revolutionized consumption patterns. Of course that is true but in reality I think the consumer is really the driver. The consumer of today simply chooses if and when they want to engage. Steve Burke, COO of Comcast, recognizes this reality and their ambition is to get content out to consumers so they can consume it anytime, anywhere they want it. He also spoke about technology being ahead of usage which speaks to the fact that the consumer is driving media transformation and will determine the adoption of technology. With consumers creating and producing content, they are truly shaping the landscape and will continue to be the ultimate influencer.
