For once, our government did something right: In 2007, the Senate passed a resolution declaring September to be National Bourbon Heritage Month.
It's only appropriate that we celebrate this all-American liquor, which dates back to before the founding of the country and by law can only be made within its borders.
So we strongly encourage you to mix up one of our favorite bourbon cocktails and raise a glass to the United States' native spirit.

My current favorite is a drizzle of black current syrup into bourbon, on the rocks, with a splash of either ginger ale. A squeeze of lemon or an orange peel doesn't hurt either...

Or, if you are going to go the route of the classics, at least give the tried and true recipe for the best Manhattan ever made.
I love that it is "National Bourbon Month," but that is the only thing new I learned from this post. And when it comes to Bourbon, there is so much more to talk about.
