Valentine's Day Cocktails

Posted: 02/11/11 12:20 PM ET

We spend a lot of effort planning what we'll eat on Valentine's Day, from making restaurant reservations months ahead of time and buying artisanal chocolates to scouring the grocery store for supposed edible aphrodisiacs. But we often don't really think about what we'll be drinking on the holiday. Sure, a glass of Champagne works, but if you want a truly romantic night, try serving a crimson cocktail tailored to your love's personal tastes. Here are a few of our favorites that will surely impress your valentine.

Clover Club

The traditional recipe for this classic gin cocktail calls for raspberry syrup and an egg white. Our easier--but no less tasty--version uses jam instead: You probably have some in your fridge right now.

Ooo I think I'll go for the Singapore Sling. Those of course will be guzzled throughout the all aphrodisiac dinner lined up. http://foodiegossip.blogspot.com/2011/02/have-hot-valentines-day-with-foodie.html
It should be called Valentine's Night.

Nothing beats a nice Pinot Noir on Valentine's day. Preferably a Californian. And don't be cheap - $30-60.
