Levi Johnston--who sired Sarah Palin's first grandchild and in October told the Associated Press that he was quitting high school to work as an apprentice electrician for the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation--"resigned" that job Monday, reports the Anchorage Daily News.

Questions about Levi's eligibility for the oil field job were raised by conservative Alaskan commentator Dan Fagan, as a high school diploma or GED is required by law in order to work as an apprentice.

Last week Palin threw a frantic media fit, manically calling People Magazine, emailing the AP and contacting the Anchorage Daily News about her daughter and her boyfriend's status (or not) as students.

Supermom Sarah told People Magazine that she:

wanted to be clear about their continuing work toward high school degrees because any suggestion otherwise "harms Bristol's reputation and Levi's reputation and their chances for good work opportunities."

Guess the media reporting the truth that Levi was a drop out did in fact "harm" his chance for "good work opportunities," in Palin's spin-filled world. But Levi was hired illegally, and once that was uncovered, he had to quit.

Palin denied Fagan's allegations that she was responsible for getting Levi his job, calling his remarks

"a political pot shot taken at me."

And Levi's dad Keith Johnson backs up Gov GILF, telling the Anchorage Daily News that the governor was not responsible for Levi getting the job, and in fact it was his influence. Keith Johnston works as an ASRC construction engineer.

According to his father Levi will be returning home to finish his education.

He felt it was the best thing to do to kind of calm the waters, so to speak

In other words, the gig was up.

Wait a minute, he had to quit. There is no way Levi could do a modeling career with all that oil all over him!

Maybe Sarah can help Levi get a job building her pipeline?

And he would actually have to touch the oil?

Don't you hate all of those people who are doing their jobs, especially in the investigative media, and taking political pot shots at Sarah.

Next we will be reading that the guy who hired Levi has lost his job. It amazes me how it is always anyones fault EXCEPT Sarah's.

Maybe Sarah can get Levi a job building her pipeline.

Good work opportunities are based on real, not reputed, qualifications. As long as you have the piece of paper it matters not what anyone says, even People magazine.

At least the State of Alaska has decent hiring standards, its just sad that Sarah Palin's future son-in-law doesn't meet those standards.

I am sure she can get that changed, she doesn't want her new grandchild to be raised by a bunch of uneducated morons.

Thank god they didn't have a baby girl, the only name for girls that begins with the letters TR is Tramp.

I love how Palin denies pulling strings to get Levi the job and then in the same breath admits to writing him a recommendation for the job. Any bets on that letter being written on the Governor's official letterhead?

If the kid's father was the only one writing the recommendation letter he could have taken the responsibility but not when the infamous Governor of Alaska writes one as well.

How does Palin figure she didn't pull strings?

What's amazing is the number of people on Ankorage Daily News who are outraged that he had to quit...calling the paper and Dan all kinds of names. I guess asking Levi to follow the rules just like everyone else is just too much to ask.

Also, lots are attacking the HS diploma requirement. Are you kidding me? It's a HS diploma or GED--These people will be working with deadly electricity. Is that really too much to ask?

Not only are Palin supporters anti-college education (elitists), now they oppose finishing high school.

What I find most disturbing is Palin's quote that it was a political pot-shot and it was denying him the opportunity to earn living.

Is Palin suggesting that it was OK for Levi to be in the program when he did not meet State requirements? She is the Govenor of Alaksa for God's sake and she is upset that her future son-in-law (who didn't meet basic educational requirements) was called out for skirting state regulations.

Is Palin saying it's OK to break the law.....if you are the father of her teenage daughters baby?

What about the lost opportunity for the person who DIDN'T get the job because Levi did? There is a waiting list for these positions.

I'll hire him. He's HOT, and he can "sire" me any day.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!! Bristol's and Levi's chances for good work opportunities are slim because --> they are teenagers who have not finished high school and now have an infant.
