Prop 8 was confusing. Courtney Love is often confused. But this is really insane.
From her friends-only blog, CLove seems to be celebrating the passage of the same-sex marriage ban:
blown awayCurrent mood: bouncy
That prop 8 passsed! motherfuckers! who voted against it!
it was confusing language in malibu there were kids reminding us to vote yes thatthe language was conbfusing and people were votingno when they meant yes or soemthin

CL is in the Anna Nicole Smith club. Her thoughts are worthless.
Her thought are not worthless. She has just as much right to her opinions as anyone else.
exactly, just like 70 % of Black America and the majority who voted for prop 8....
The phrase "voted against it" does not specify what "it" Love is talking about. Is she talking about voting against prop 8 but for equal marriage, or against equal marriage by voting for prop 8?
The two readings are opposites.
Why should anyone take Courtney Love seriously? She's been a punchline for decades.
It's my understanding that lawsuits have already been filed and I won't be at all surprised if this misfit doesn't go the way of the dinosaurs hate-props. 187 and 209. I believe it will be found unconstiutional because you cannot vote away another's right to equal protection under the law. What I don't understand is how this crap makes it onto the ballot in the first place.
My God. Could there be a more shining example of why CIVIL RIGHTS should have NEVER-EVER-EVER been put up for a popular vote?
Hetero's - do you actually REALIZE what happened? Can you fathom having YOUR family's civil rights voted on?
Yes, "we" realize what happened but, as a Texan, I am not allowed to vote in California. I assure you that I would have voted against Prop8 had I been able to and I am surprised that it was successfully added to the ballot in the first place. I think it is unconstitutional and will not stand.
Why should anyone be surprised. They did the same thing in TX in 2005.
It passed in FL and AZ too. Same story every time.
The only real way to change this is to bring a case to the US Supreme Court, hopefully after President Obama is in office and we have a better balance in the court.
I would put money on it not standing.
Courtney has demonstrated on more than one occasion that she is capable of misunderstanding the SIMPLEST things.....even sober.
You guys are the ones who are intolerant. You make fun of people who do not have the same opinions as yours.
If an opinion is against the civil rights of an entire group of people, it has absolutely no value.
Perhaps next time she should vote sober.
I don't see how anyone could have been confused by the language here. The title of the Prop was "Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry" and the text on the ballot was "Changes California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. Provides that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." I don't see much possibility for confusion here.
They did the same tricky kind of language when Texas voted on this about a year ago. I had to study and double-check online before I went to vote to be sure I wasn't making a mistake.
Here's my proposal for 2012 Proposition 8, Release 2.1
CONCRETIZES RIGHT OF DIFFERENT–SEX COUPLES TO NOT MARRY OR MARRY AS SAME SEX COUPLES EXCEPT UNDER RELIGIOUS DURESS OR CONTRACTUAL PROTOCOL.
DERIVATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.
It is very unfortunate that so many people are unaware that sometimes questions are phrased in such a manner that a postive response has to be delivered with a negative word or conversely a positive word is the negative answer.
Do you mind if I get married? No or yes are the choices but too many people think yes is the answer that means you have no objection. I have no doubt this is where our girl Courtney got lost.
Sneeky little anti-love trolls.
O.O That's a good point! Maybe more people than her thought it meant "no" on gay marriage to vote "yes"? I think there needs to be a re-polling or a recount or re-vote or something. Courtney Love is half out of her mind and I'm sure half of Cali is not like that. Maybe they were just confused and....wow. I think there should be a re-vote or whatever its called. Seriously.
See Chris Rodda's Profile
It did mean "no" on gay marriage to vote "yes."
Exactly.
Prop 8 eliminated the rights of gay people to marry. It also nullified existing gay marriages. How cruel is that?
Oh,
and it passed.
Poepl woo cant rite prperly shuddent b allwd 2 vte inn the fist playce.
that was sooo goood!
Yes on Obama, yes on prop 8
Do you think that people choose who to fall in love with???
Do you think that people don't deserve to marry if they fall in love with and feel romantic towards people of the same sex???
That's called discrimination.
I'm sorry it passed, too. I live in the racist south where interracial marriage was prohibited when Obama was born and lynchings were still going on. i feel really sorry for Ellen, so her union is now voided? That doesn't seem fair to all those marriages that took place while it was legal. The Christian Right is neither.
Yes on Obama, NO on Prop 8.
another bottom-of-the-barrel small d Democrat.
Muppet. And not even one of the good ones, she's like one of the really unfunny ones they came up with for that last version of the show.
