Thursday nights give you something deliciously sinful to sink your teeth into. Something wicked this way comes as fans are transfixed to their television sets during episodes of the hit show The Vampire Diaries. Viewers sit on the edge of their seat and wait with baited breath for the program they simply devour to the very last drop. And why not? For three seasons now the show that has never been just about the undead and the girl both fanged vampire brothers constantly are at odds over. This tasty nail biter keeps fans in emotional upheaval with the intense and thrilling twists and turns that they never see coming. Witches, vampires, werewolves, and more abound plenty in this elegantly portrayed, written, and directed Southern masterpiece.
It is easy to get sucked in (no pun intended) whenever you tune in to an episode. Dark, mysterious, and ravenous, The Vampire Diaries weaves tales that cross time periods and provides a constant battle between dueling brothers Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) Salvatore over lady love Elena (Nina Dobrev). Whether the two are bickering or not over Elena, the quaint town they live in, Mystic Falls, Va., never seems to have a dull moment. The Vampire Diaries is not your average teen drama centered around the occult. Romance, revenge, power, and hunger plays almost as pivotal a role in the program as the main characters seeking these vices. These characters never fullylash show the cards they are holding , nor do they ever even reveal their full hand. After all, feelings and emotions can be viewed in many respects as weaknesses. And as anyone who lives in Mystic Falls knows, weaknesses are what everyone loves to pray upon be it family, friends, or dalliance. Even if you do have the upper hand, you won't have it for long, because there is always something under the table or an underhanded scheme on the rise. When you're dealing with the supernatural, you always have to be on your game, and everyone is a target. Manipulation is a masterful art form in Mystic Falls and all of the town's residents seem to be pawns in a constant game of chess. Cruel intentions play out as if they were a sweet symphony and Mystic Falls is their stage.
Dobrev's endless chemistry with Somerhalder and Wesley is plentiful and always boundless. The threesome have the passion and precision of their ever tormented characters down to a fine science. Not to mention the incredible camaraderie that comes across between Dobrev and fellow stunning castmates Candice Accola, Steven R. McQueen, Kat Graham, Zach Roerig, and Michael Trevino which constantly leaves the outsider viewer wishing they were not just a fly on a wall, but another member of the dynamic group. This talented group provides the support, and at times humanity, the show can often transcend. Matt Davis cannot be overlooked as the shrewd and sage Alaric Saltzman. The writing and storytelling as well as the cinematography on this show are like no other. History comes to life in such flawless beauty with marvelous writing from brilliant show writers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec. The writing staff and crew on The Vampire Diaries work tirelessly to bring fans juicy episodes that are nonstop heart-pounding thrill rides. The quick wit and sharp, tormenting words that the characters utter on a weekly basis are seemingly flawless. Joseph Morgan can deliver these lines in a way that is pure poetry. As the maniacal Klaus, the conviction and command he packs into them can leave a viewer trembling.
The Vampire Diaries takes a sinfully wicked bite into Thursday night television giving fans the terrifying and divine chill they thirst for. Quench your desires diving fangs first into this highly insanely cravable show.
