Notwithstanding the risk of death associated with pregnancy in developing countries, being born male means, globally, a six (6) year shorter life expectancy. Sadly, virtually nothing is being done by the UN health organizations or by any other international bodies to address that glaring gender-based disparity. Rather, male health continues to be essentially off the radar screen and male lives continue to be deemed expendable.

"male lives continue to be deemed expendable"?

I have never heard about the thousands of missing baby boys in China.

The glaring gender-based disparity in many cultures is the "retirement plan" of moving in with your Son and his wife when you get too old to live on your own safely. No son, no retirement plan.

This is all true, and children also need fathers that will be there for them and to know their father's.
If there is no stable marriage you run a risk of this and alot more.

yeah, and who was it that was all over the right when someone said something negative about an episode of "Murphy Brown" when it came to single motherhood.... sad it has to go full circle to see the negative affects of a bad choice
