Welcome to my new art diary. As an artist living and exhibiting in New York, I run around a lot, see a lot of shows, work in my studio, talk to other artists, that kind of thing. I sometimes don't even realize how much my life revolves around art. So...

On view at the Parrish Art Museum is its second juried Artists Choose Artists exhibition, wherein seven well-established East End artists each choose two lesser-known East End artists from a pool of 200 submissions. Pretty On The Inside At Paul Kasmin Gallery

Posted August 23, 2011 | 8/23/11

There is a fantastic group show at Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea, organized by Eric Parker and KAWS. In addition to the curators, artists include Todd James, Tony Matelli, Joyce Pensato, Peter Saul and Karl Wirsum. This show kept surprising me. What first grabbed me were the big-color, cartoon and...

This past Saturday I dragged myself off the beach in Montauk, to throw on a suitably Hamptons outfit and attend the annual Parrish Art Museum Midsummer Party. This year's party honored the Founding Partners of the museum, individuals and foundations largely responsible for funding the highly anticipated new Herzog &...

The Armory Fair 2011

Posted March 7, 2011 | 3/7/11

Too tired and cold to trek out to 12th and 55th street or not in New York at all? Not to worry, I cabbed it over there yesterday and culled my favorite pieces for your enjoyment. What do these all have in common? My terrible job of photographing them. Hence,...

Posted March 2, 2011 | 3/2/11

There is a great blog on the Huff Post by John Seed about California artists' palettes. Not to be out done by the left coast, I've gathered a bunch of east coast palettes together. Let's call it a Dance-Off. Palettes are delicious things, whether they are full of...

Schnabel's Basquiat Drove Me to Paint

Posted June 10, 2010 | 6/10/10

After grad school I moved back to New York and found a place to live and work, which I arranged as a large studio and a small living space. Then when everything was in its right place, I quickly got down to not painting. I told myself I would paint...

Art, Commerce and Katherine Bernhardt

Posted May 19, 2010 | 5/19/10

When I got out of grad school, I started a career in motion graphics and web design to support myself until, I hoped, my paintings could support me. I felt it was important that people who hired me to design didn't know I was an artist, lest they think me...

I See Dead Artists

Posted April 6, 2010 | 4/6/10
