Liz, really interesting video. I almost never read the stuff in the "living" section as I think most of it is new age psycho babble devoid of any real meaning but I liked this. However, one thing I would say is that while many suicides are emotional reactions to situations that will change, there are times when suicide is a reasonable course of action. Someone may be in so much physical and/or emotional pain that suicide can be a dignified way to end a life rather than live for year in pain or quite desperation. I wish that there were more avenues for people to pursue who feel that they are in such a situation. Something where they went through some counseling to be absolutely sure that they wanted to do it but then were provided with a painless alternative.

I agree 100% on the gun issue. Its amazing that people think they are protection but don't realize that the odds of them being used against themselves or a loved one are so much greater than that they will be effective to stop violence from an intruder. A while back I lived in a bad neighborhood with my girl friend and I thought about getting a gun. The two of us were going through some difficult experiences and I'm really glad I didn't. I'm not saying either one of us would have grabbed the gun at some point but who knows. We had a couple of emotional arguments where we yelled at each other and threw things. Instead of a gun we rescued a beautiful scary big dog that loved us immensely but would be almost as scary as a gun to any intruder -- and a lot more difficult to get control of and use against us. I felt so comfortable with the dog that I took him on long walks late at night.
