FL-22: Allen West Should Apologize for Sexist Tirade

Posted: 07/20/11 01:50 PM ET

Wow. I wasn't planning on blogging today, but after reading about Allen West's latest out of control, sexist tirade, I knew I had to do something. Politico summed up his latest embarrassment:

Congressman Allen West dispatched a scathing email to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, calling her "vile, unprofessional and despicable," "a coward" "characterless" and "not a Lady" and demanding that she "shut the heck up."

Allen West has a real problem with women. He's voted to deny us healthcare and curb our rights, and now he's openly attacking one of us with sexist comments. I won't stand for it. Join me at WestHatesWomen.com to learn more and demand he apologize!

Disgusting. That's really the first word that comes to mind when I think about this.

I know Congresswomen Wasserman Schultz, she's a strong women and can handle herself -- but I can't stand by and let this kind of sexism go unnoticed. West has done everything he can to degrade women as a U.S. Congressman. It's offensive and makes us all look bad.

This angry verbal assault on a hardworking Florida congresswomen takes away from the real issues, and cannot be allowed to stand. West has to face up to his sexism and rectify it.

Demand an apology. And demand he donate $1,000 to the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence to show he's serious. Sign our petition at WestHatesWomen.com!

To me, this is just another example of why I am running against West. He's a radical, anti-women embarrassment to our state. He has got to go -- and I'm going to make sure he does.

Frankel is a true middle class fighter, West is a disgrace to all servicemen. He wears his military service on his sleeve while he justifies cutting taxes on the wealthy and voting to end Medicare. The level of extremism among these radical republicans is astounding. We are staring down the barrel of a new Gilded Age, you are the only thing standing in the way. Be a voter, encourage others to be voters.

And remember that West is a contributing writer to a motorcycle magazine where he has called Obama names and asked readers to "imagine having sex with DWS". The rag also has a definitive misogynistic atmosphere, saying among other things that women are only around to "serve" men, and that they should wear slave chokers. He also has ties to a motorcycle gang being investigated by the FBI for drugs, etc. And hey, he says they are great guys!

Lois - you've got my vote. I think you were a great mayor for West Palm Beach and you had a lot of hard dscisions to make but you were always fair and ethical. As soon as you open a campaign office, count me in as a volunteer.

I have no respect for Lois Frankel, she slashed the budget for Police and Fire so she could go $200 million over budget on her city hall, spend $30 million dollars on a 2 acre patch of grass, and $2 million on some trees in a median. She needs to shut up and go back to New York where people might actually listen to her propaganda.

She fought for every dollar she could for the police and fire. If you want to lay blame, you'll have to try the City Council who made the cuts. Nice try at diversion, though.

You have my support, Lois. With your long and sterling record of serving us in South Florida, I can't think of anybody better to unseat the West abberration. His attitude, demeanor and ideas don't reflect what we are in this area. I still don't understand the demographic that chose him.

It's clearly a case of psychological projection.
Psychological projection or projection bias is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people. Thus, projection involves imagining or projecting the belief that others originate those feelings.[1]

Projection reduces anxiety by allowing the expression of the unwanted unconscious impulses or desires without letting the conscious mind recognize them.

Somebody needs to tell Rep. West that he is not in the armed forces anymore whre he was able to intimidate his subordinates just because of his rank. Life in the real world works a little diffrently.

Its plain to see that this guy has issues, since his response to her tame statement was this tirade. Well at least it was only an email, and he didn't fire a g u n next to her head

The several insults that Rep. West emails to Rep. Wasserman Schultz perfectly describe his own
behavior--vile, despicable, unprofessional, characterless and he's definitely not a gentleman.

Why should it demean it if the apology is true and not "I'm sorry you took this the way you did" sort of "apology" we usually hear from the TP/NOP? Sometimes it takes a demand to force a person to really look at what he did or said, and re-evaluate it.

But nice try at a diversion mixed with a ad hominem, tro//ette.

Please correct your third line, Karee. "lookd at what he or SHE did or said." Men are not the only sinners.
