Lt. Col. Matthew M. Canfield enlisted in the Marines in 1980 afterwhich, in 1983, he attended the University of Florida. Upon graduation in 1987 (BA Classics, cum Laude), he was commissioned a 2nd Lt., Infantry, through Army ROTC. Lt. Col. Canfield, went on to complete Airborne, Air Assault and Ranger training. He has served in the Republic of Korea, deployed three times to Iraq, most recently from May 2005-May 2006 as an Advisor to the Iraqi Army. Lt. Col. Canfield holds graduate degrees from Louisiana State University, Auburn University, and the Air University in Military History, International Relations, and Strategy. Lt. Col. Canfield recently received orders for another deployment to Iraq beginning December 1, 2009.
