Lt. Dan Choi, West Point Graduate, former infantry officer fluent in Arabic, Iraq Combat Veteran came out on the Rachel Maddow Show in 2009 after falling in love with his first boyfriend and could not lie anymore. He was fired in 2010. He challenged a policy of enforced lying: "Don't Ask Don't Tell" but after a year of speeches and lobbying led more visible direct action protests, giving his academy ring to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, even handcuffing himself to the White House fence, three times. On his third arrest, federal charges were pressed. He fights this battle of vindictive and selective prosecution in federal court today, a case titled United States vs. Choi. He has also been arrested with Tarsands Pipeline protestors and Gay Activists in Moscow. He also serves on the boards of Marriage Equality USA and the American Foundation for Equal Rights (The Prop8 Challenge).
