Here's a video made by Lyn Goldfarb and Dustin Slaughter of Congressional District 33 North for Change/ Obamawood. In it, volunteers, including me, talk about why a public option at the very least is the only way forward on health care reform.

Mike Lux: Momentum, Confusion, and Sticking to the Strategy
I think we're still moving forward with health care reform. The next few days will tell us what kind of deals can be cut, but no matter what, I think the strategy for progressives remains the same as it has been.

Hi, Lyn Goldfarb and Dustin Slaughter of Congressional District 33 North for Change/ Obamawood.
Thanks for the video. It is public option or nothing.
Sincerely,

I still have hope that Obama is faking to the right to move to the left typical basketball move . if tihis gets him what he wants and what we need , a public option and true healthcare reform then we are witnessing a master in the art of politics . if what we see we take at face value then we progressives have been masterfully deceived .
People think of Barack Obama as if they know him, but what they know are projections of him, projections he casts by appealing rhetoric and projections cast by the media. These are dangerous because they are so successful: Mr "Nice Guy" even lovable, as Ms Brawley expressed, after bad guy Bush is the minimal summation in many minds. The truth is we do not know him, and he has reneged on many significant positions he took as Senator and as candidate. Not only has this former Constitution-professor adopted the positions of GWB on withdrawing due process and state secrecy, but he has continued the imperial presidency and its dominance over the other branches of our government. He has continued the threat of further usurpation of power through presidential signings and by refusing to do the investigations of lawlessness by Bush and his top administrators with regard to our laws on torture. We don't know Barack Obama and what we do know from what we have seen is very bad. He follows GWB on projections of military power, subservience to the corporate elite and neglect of ordinary Americans (including health-care).
In understanding Barack Obama, the best technique is to avoid his imagery and rhetoric and pay attention to who is advising him - as far as we know - and what he does and does not do.
Let's see what's the choice here take money from the profit coffers and put it to use to the common good so that the whole cuntry is uplifted and not just a few doctors and shareholders. Or we keep letting them charge whatever they want, deny whoever they want, create a demographic of hopelessness in the now chilling words pre-existing condition. Seem's like a simple choice until you count the fact the lemming republicans are up in arms.
Congress and Senate seem to be translating the idea of Public Option to something the state governments have as an option.
It seems to me that fails the essential purpose of giving the individual, the voter, the ability to exercise personal option on a very personal choice - healthcare.
If the "public option" is an option to the states, that just transfers the responsibility to other politicians. It is a cowardly, craven approach to avoid responsibility to their constituents by passing the buck to other politicians while being able to claim with the insurance companies that they didn't give individuals personal choice. Cowardly weaklings.
