Northern California native Lux Land has traversed the country's wildest areas and brought them to life in her personal and descriptive songwriting. Both heartbreaking and hopeful, Land's lyrics speak to the listener on many levels. She has opened for acts as famous as Bob Dylan and as exotic as critical darlings Richmond Fontaine. With influences as wide-ranging as Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, and Patty Griffin, she rises above genre designations to embrace many musical elements. Her songs are moody and intelligent, simple and poignant. Lux also makes sculpture and installation art. She lives in West Michigan with her husband, singer/songwriter Brian Vander Ark, their daughter, and a big black dog.
