As president and CEO of Family Planning Advocates of New York State (FPA), M. Tracey Brooks leads a statewide coalition representing more than 125 civic, labor, religious, and health and human services agencies promoting access to and affordability of comprehensive reproductive health care services for women and families statewide. As president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York, as well, she directs the political and advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood.

Prior to leading FPA, Brooks served as the Regional Director for then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. She represented the Senator in her work with government, political and community leaders in 15 counties in upstate New York.

Brooks also has practiced law in both the public and private sectors. She served as Counsel to the New York State Assembly Judiciary and Codes Committees. And, from 1998 to 2002, she served in the litigation department of Hinman Straub, one of the premier law firms in upstate New York, where she worked on a wide range of legal and policy-related issues.

Brooks also has been active in politics. In 2002, she was the Democratic nominee for the New York State Assembly, 108th District. And, in 2008, she was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives in the 21st District.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1992 and her J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University in 2000.
