GirlHeadquarters.org is a blog site with no censorship. It is a site where five women/girls blog when they feel they have something they want to say, or some fun thing they want to share with the rest of the world. It has guest bloggers, and categories like "religion, spirituality, politics, activism, race, feminism, girl power, check this out!, and randomness." The list goes on and on of the things it encompasses, and above all, is one of many independent voices.

A few months ago, I got an email from someone I had never ever met, a lovely and kind and fun woman named Liz Funk. She is a college student, who is a fellow for Young People For The American Way (yp4.) The director of yp4 had somehow found a blog that I had posted on the Huffington Post a long time ago. Liz was starting a blog for teen girls and really women of any age to have a voice on the site. The blog went up in April, and since then I have been having so much fun!

My twin sister and I have the freedom to talk about anything that we want, I have talked about religion, sexism, my passions, my feelings, even my music playlist or movies I love. It's an outlet to let yourself share what you love with the world. It's a way to feel like you have contributed something, like you can be someone. THERE IS NO CENSORSHIP. Not once has Liz ever emailed me and said, "You have to take that blog down, or you can't put that up!" Never. She has been nothing but encouraging and gracefully brilliant through this whole process. Girl Headquarters has truly been nothing but gracefully brilliant and so much fun throughout.

It features guest bloggers, that have posted their outlook on the world. Some of those blogs have talked about racism or "going green." To me, Girl Headquarters is a way to feel good about being a girl, that it's okay to be girly. It has made feel like I have contributed, like I am something and someone important. It is a way to relate to people, even if you don't know them. Girlheadquarters.org is not just a blog with no censorship, Girl Headquarters is a blog site that represents beauty, strong women and girls of this country.
