Senator Biden's Night

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

This was Senator Biden's night.

Given the challenges our nation now faces, we need a vice president who can be persuasive with foreign leaders, tough with congress, and relentless in his drive to serve the American people. Tonight, Joe Biden showed why he is the right person for that job.

On question after question, he demonstrated knowledge, careful thought, and a willingness to make hard decisions. And with every answer, he vindicated Senator Obama's judgment and showed why he is considered one of our nation's wisest and most experienced leaders.

He was equally at home with global and local issues, demonstrated an amazing grasp of facts, and gave proof that he is prepared to be a partner who will contribute much as vice-president to solving our nation's problems.

Americans could not help but conclude that any president would be stronger and more confident with Joe Biden by his side.

Palin still doesn't know what the Vise President does. Somebody in the McCain campaign, please tell her.

This may be a double-post, but although I agree with your apparent sentiments, we already have a "Vise" president. His name is Dick Cheney.

Biden stayed on message and came across human and yet professinal. Palin nearly broke down in tears when it was obvious she was over her head. Joe Biden is next Vice President of the United States.

Was it me or did Palin seem to rest upon those laurels of being mayor of Wasilla a little bit too often? All she talked about was what she did in Alaska and as mayor of Wasilla ad naseum.
She did not support her statements and was totally off topic half the time. Palin was too repetitive and rah rah boring. Ugh.

Agree. Eventhough her performance was better after the debate camp she had received for the last few days, she showed no substances at all in her reach-out tone. Especially, she brought up repeatedly about her job as mayor of a small town of 6000 she left behind with debts.

Joe Biden did a great job as I knew he would. He kept his cool, made his points, emphasized them with facts, called Palin on her BS statements and showed enough emotiion to connect with the audience. Palin didn't self destruct like the Couric interviews but neither was she very good. if she said maverick any any more times I think I would have screamed. Aside from her crazy views Palin is a strange woman. I don't think I have ever seen such a level of unbridled ambition in a person to the extent that they would humiliate themselves like she has these last few weeks. Imagine being married to her. As Clint Eastwood said in one of his Dirty Harry movies, "a mans got to know his limitations". Obviously, Palinn doesn't have good judgment about her own and McCain has even less for picking her. I only hope the people in Alaska have the sense to now get rid of her. I also hope the comedians keep the jokes coming. It's likely in the future she will have the dubious distinction of being referenced, if at all, in the same breath as Dan Quail.

I'm not an American, but this is maybe the most important time int he last few decades. Solidariy around this site will not help getting even one soul in voting fr OBAMA.

What are you going to do to help the OBAMA campaign tmorrow. Let us move only in this direction, stop the negative strategy and the PALIN wasting time efforts. WE already know she is not qualified.

We will all blame ourselves in one month, on the amount of words and time we spent on her insteading of talking to the hearts and minds of all thos hesitating people in favor of Obama.
All the commentating, she blinked, she didn't know what newspaper, SHE SHE SHE... this is TRAP, and a direct way to loose these elections!!!!! WAKE UP! PLEASE!!!!!!

We do not want a dark era in fron of us!!!!!

What is everyone of you going to do tomorrow, the next weekend, the next weeks, to help save this country from a total decline? A short answer will be great and make you feel into it....

I expect Arianna, and other writers to stop this "craziness over Palin" and address the people here in the right direction!!!

I'm using my phone to call potential voters in swing states. I've already given the maximum I can by law and cannot afford more anyway as I also am now laid off.

She wants to expand the power and reach of the office of Vice President. Can any sane person believe such drivel after nearly 8 yrs of Bush/Chaney? I have to give Palen her do...she was well prepared and kept repeating all of the talking points that she was provided. The problem is that the goal of the debate for the Republicans was to distance themselves from Bush. She certainly was unwilling or unable to open any distance between her ticket and the present administration. I wish that Gwen had be able to ask Sarah if she really believes that dinasaurs walked the Earth with mankind. That would have provided some well needed comic relief.

Overall the debate will be an after thought and of no importance. Perhaps that is as it should be.

I definitely disagree. Biden sounded like a robot for O, and he hardly made sense on many questions, because he was backtracking so fast on facts.

I happen to follow.

So I know.

Another Mama for Obama!
Hey, Sarah Palin the scripted talk, Sarah Palin the "i am not going to answer the questions you want me to answer." When Americans face someone smart and make absolutely thoughtful points, they mark him/her as elitist. When they face someone who is all over the place, inconsistent and cannot even fallow the topic, they mark him/her as maveric. I think McCain shames the Maveric brand. There is nothing in this world I hate more right now than the word maveric. I do not want to her that word again. America has got to give up ignorance and think throghly because these are not the times we can believe in a man who has clearly lined himself along with Bush and a women whose only difference from Cheney is Lipstick.
Well, if it is slamming out of the ballpark, "McCain-Palin health care plan "the ultimate bridge to nowhere." did leave the Yankee stadium.

Wasn't it surreal? I give her credit for her ability to cram for a test, but she delivered insult after insult to us. "Joe Six-Pack," for crying out loud? These coaches must be amazing. I thought Gwen was great in the way she kept things moving, but I'd be interested to know why she didin't call Palin on her failure to answer questions, although I don't suppose there's anything else to say once you understand that the candidate is going to do no more than deliver a monologue and we have no choice but to endure it.

Joe Biden did a fantastic job tonight. He was very knowledgable, and I would feel very comfortable with Biden answering the phone at 3:00 in the morning.

To all the Huffington post readers and writers:
First I'll say that I'm not an American.
Let me tell you what I see from the side:
All users in this site are already OBAMA voters. Both you, and many media channels gone into a negative cycle of picking "Palin" which is what the republicans have wanted all along.
WE already know that Palin is not qualified.

But now, only a month is left, and the polls are notso good. Please, stop spending to much time on this solidarity, and go get new Obama supporters. Stop the negative straategy. This time might be one of the most important times of your life. If Mccain wins, I promise you you'll get 4 years of Tina Fey. If you prefer that then my lips are sealed. I doubt it. Think about all those who are really confused, and try to get reach them. Don't be cynical, explain, give only one month now of you life because this can be critical. Even if you're in sure Dem state, think what you can do do convince one more. Not by laughing at Palin, this doesn't reach these people.

Please go out there to save your country. Solidarity around here will not help anyone. No republican come in here and read you comments even though cool. We will have a lot of time to do this later.

If any of you share my feelings, just write in a sentence what YOU are going to do tomorrow...

Agreed. I will spend the 3 Saturdays before the election traveling to a swing state to canvas voters. I have already donated more money than I can afford.

Anyone else?

The polls are actually looking better these days; I think Obama has a good chance to win. But you are right, this is no time to be complacent. I have been and will continue to make phone calls and write postcards to send on behalf of Obama. I have also contributed to the campaign and plan to make another financial contribution. My county (I live in Washington state) is all vote by mail, so we plan to make phone calls to remind people to mail in their ballots.

I agree with this article. Sarah Palin HAS YET to answer any question that she chooses not to. Most striking to me, and no one seems to be speaking on it is THE DICK CHENEY THING ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION. Wake up people.
