Can anyone really believe Sarah Palin will make it to the election?

It seems more obvious every moment that she was initially used to deflect attention from Obama and the Democratic Convention. It worked. No wonder her vetting didn't matter.

Now that she has served her purpose, Palin's days are numbered. Either McCain will be "forced to release her due to new facts coming to light..." or the Republicans will for once try to be just a little classy and allow her to resign. I can write the speech for her: "It is with profound regret that I announce my resignation as your vice presidential nominee. Due to pressing personal matters, and lengthy, painful discussions with family and friends, I could not devote the time necessary to serve my country as I, and the great, heroic John McCain, would wish." Tears are a slight possibility (from McCain not Palin).

I have to hand it to the Republicans for deviousness, unscrupulousness, and ethiclessness. I know, I know, there's no such word as ethiclessness, but there should be, just for them.

It's important to know both parties' intentions (as much as can be culled from the tell-'em-what-they-want-to-hear songs being sung ) in order to make a reasoned decision in November. I'm watching the Republican Convention, too. It's hard to believe all the lies, and it's only the second day. First day, they could scarcely hide their disappointment that the Gulf Coast didn't take a worse hit from Gustav than it did. What did they have to promise Jindal to have him continue to keep evacuees away another few days?

I was amazed at the crap slithering out of the two-sided mouth of Giuliani, one-time mayor of my home town. He misquoted Obama, accused him unjustly, and wouldn't answer the questions put to him by CNN. Blitzer tried so hard to keep the interview on track, I got tired of hearing the same question as it just lay there, unanswered.

Bill Bennett and his veiled threats against Obama were another surprise -- I mistakenly thought he still had a few principles left. Wrong.

It's easy to see why John McCain picked Palin as his running mate. At 5'-7", he's still taller than she is in heels. That's how she made his short list.

obama/biden should wait for the right time. this friday. monday next week latest. then hit with the disturbing fact of palin trying to censor the local librarian, almost recalled, forced to hire an administrator. censorship is not a value for middle america. it also segways into, "palin had more trouble in firing people as mayor. then as governor -- troopergate."

middle america doesn't like censorship. middle american likes fair play and not personal vendettas.

dems have to start hitting hard on friday or monday to affect polling, perception, etc. she may still be forced out, but there are two problems.

1) mccain can't win without her. mccain in losing palin concedes tempermant, judgement, vetting process, and he losses the right base of his party and he would have trouble resurrecting experience. change/reform might be difficult to do also. the palin story would also overshadow almost any pick he might make. no matter mccain is the side bar to this election. he regrets his decison.

2) mccain not only loses the right base of his party, he demoralizes his party among all groups and loses middle america.

I have noticed that CNN is less willing to just come on a spew their talking points. They are actually trying to force them to answer realistic questions like: Is Sarah Palin the best, most qualified person in the Republican party to be Vice President? It's very funny because none of them answer the question. They just say well this is McCain's pick and she is more qualified than Obama. It reeks of desperation.

Exactly! They always answer something like : "Well she is more experienced than Obama!" CNN asks the question again "Well is it is not the same thing because Obama is on the top of the ticket" and it goes on and on until the interviewer just gives up because he's never going to get an answer anyways. I am proud that some CNN staff is finally doing its job as they should which is to ask tough but relevant questions, not about things that do not matter.
