Manisha Singh is a former Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Economic Energy and Business Affairs as well as the Bureau of International Organization Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Prior to these appointments, she was on Capitol Hill as Deputy Chief Counsel to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, working for Senator Richard Lugar and before that as Counsel to the Republican Staff of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. She has practiced law at the firms of Squire Sanders & Dempsey and Reed Smith, and served as a law clerk at the State of Florida Second District Court of Appeal. Her educational background includes earning a B.A. from the University of Miami at the age of 19, a J.D. from the University of Florida at the age of 22, a certificate in International Law from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, and Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from American University. She is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and admitted to practice law in Florida, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. She was born in India and grew up in Central Florida.
