Counter-Attacking Fox

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Mention the words Barack Obama and the eyes in the heads of the Fox News talking heads began to twitter and roll backward. It's one thing for the conservative news outlet to snipe away at a candidate like Obama. It's quite another to conduct an all-out viral smear campaign.

"It's like he's a mammy...he's anti-American...he felt it was OK to come out of the closet as the American insurgent he is...he sounds like Hitler...patriotism has made him a little uncomfortable."

No, I'm not making this stuff up. These are just but a few of the greatest hits from Fox talkers pundits trying to dirty up Obama. Wouldn't be so bad if it was all contained within the rather sordid confines of Rupert's flagship network. Problem is, this crud spreads into other media hungry to fill the campaign news hole.

The media activists at Brave New Films, however, are trying to stem the tide. They're asking people fed up with this baloney to put some pressure on the Foxistas. Here's the video they put together to get you involved:

As for me, you couldn't get me to watch Faux News if you strapped me into a chair and pinned my eyelids back, like Clockwork Orange!

However, a friend of mine called me yesterday and said during Obama's race speech he was flipping back and forth between Fox and CNN to see how each network was handling it, and he swears Fox News had distorted Obama's head (made it bigger) and colored him blacker. I went to the Fox News website to see if it was true, but of course, they weren't showing it, just some videos of conservative hacks criticizing the speech.

Fox News is a propaganda news organization intended to form opinions for Americans who are too lazy, ignorant and/or incapable of searching out independent news sources to gain a better understanding of truth. Fox News is the epitome of everything that's wrong and disgusting about America in the year 2008.

Bush and his Neocons really did a number on this country...They went beyond just trying to get their stool elected so they can stuff as much money down their fat ass mouths in 8 years.
They have given a voice to the most vile Americans I thought I would never witness in my life time. Honestly I don't know why Obama would want to lead such a dysfunctional country. I almost would rather him lose the nomination then to face the ball faced Nazi spew emanating from half of this country.
No "petition" or "boycott" will do anything. It's time to call out your neighbor and friends that have this unguided moral agenda and have the audacity to wear this vomit on their collective sleeves. It's going to get ugly...real ugly.

Thank you for your post.

FoxNews is really a GOP hate and spin machine.

It's not news at all.

And worse, it clearly does feed its garbage to other news organizations.

These people are dumbing down America, ramping up hatred, and bleeding the country dry in Iraq.

Also check out the FoxNews comment boards.

Get this -- they are moderated, which means that the comments allowed are approved.

And many of the Obama ones are filled with total racist stuff, really KKK material from the 1800s, and I am not exaggerating.

Check it out, the comments are under stories.

I wish other media outlets would start to examine the race-hatred and smear tactics from FoxNews, which is getting more and more ugly.

Who is watching the watchers?

For one brief moment, my heart fluttered with hope... for the merest of possibilities that this nation could come to terms with its dark and painful history. One moment when the words of, "he ain't heavy, he's my brother" almost left my lips, one brief moment when sparks danced in my eyes with the possibility that, "the color of his skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes". Then the sun came up and I looked out on the American landscape and sadly, I realized..... it was just a dream.

Barack Obama is NOT Jeremiah Wright. Barack Obama is born of a white mother and a black father making him the only possible candidate to truly reconcile this country's dark past. If he denies either his black or white blood that flows in his veins, he is denying himself.

May Divine Guidance lead us towards the light....

Thanks for the heads up on writing Fox. I just sent them a note to KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

what if anything has Sen. Obama said in any of his speeches, appearances or books that would lead any of you to believe that he shares the more resentful and angry words of Pastor Wright? While you are trying that math....Think about this. Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of a War that wasn't necessary. Today one of the major Investment Banks was taken over and we are heading into the worst financial crisis since WWII. So while you are still playing gotcha...you think about that...

Greta Van Susteren doesn't smear Clinton. She has a blog and for months she has used it to bring up every single thing that Barack did or didn't do. She lets people post the most obnoxious comments about Barack. I am surprised that Bill O. trashed the Huffington Post while Greta allows anything. She is very sly about it but if you read it on a regular basis it is there.

Well, first they were attacking Hillary and the Clintons (the dems), now that they see Obama is in the play, they will attack him with anything too. Did people not realize they would? Do people not remember them doing it to HRC or Bill?

Now listen. They are not just attacking Obama. They think that by looking as though they support Hillary, that we (as Dems) will fall for it. A lot of you have. Then, they attack Obama.

When it's all done, they will have a stronger candidate. (republicans) And we have only ourselves to blame because you took the bate on Hillary, and then on Obama.

It's as if they are a bunch of mindless clones/drones/zombies, that once someone says something everybody says it. Sean Hannity is a very divisive talking head. First it was the stop Hillary express now he has the stop Obama express. I don't think it's racisim, it's pure ignorance. He's trying to tie Senator Obama to his pastor and say guilt by association, well Sean is "friendly" with Newt Gingrich a known adulterer (he is on his talk show every other day) and he's friendly with Rush Limbaugh ( a known pill popper) and he's friendly with Rudy Guilliani a known adulterer, so does that make him a pill poppin' adulterer???? The stuff they say on that network is UNREAL and it is a virus. People in this country are afraid of anything new and different and that's what Senator Obama brings to the table. I think the Fox News network is some type of CULT and only the mindless and spineless can work there.

Hillary Supporters -- Why not condemn this?

Gee, brenner21, I'm kind of surprised that you're not accusing the Clinton camp of being responsible. And, why should Clinton supporters be the ones doing any condemning of obviously stupid and baseless accusations about Obama? In fact, why should either campaign take valuable time from addressing the real issues of the campaign to dignify the stupidity? Just say no to being sucked into this mudpit, it's a waste of everybody's time.

We're too busy laughing at how Keith O. was being touted as the new standard-bearer for racism just as the news was hitting over Obama's infamous spiritual leader.

Waiting to see if Keith apologizes to Hillary for the bashing and trashing.

Almost. They don't have a constitution, either. Their president is smarter than ours, though.

The status quo is not an easy thing to defeat. We're confronting a system of multi-national corporations in the fight of their lives to get one of their own in the White House. We need to spread the message that this disgusting, blatantly, swiftboat campaign needs to end now. Report the truth or get off the tube. What they're doing is a great disservice to the viewers that haven't woken up to the realization that this is total crap being fed to them, but then again, its well known, so probably the people who push this shit won't vote for Obama anyway.

I can only hope that if and when Sen. Obama becomes the President, one of the changes he advocates is an FCC mandate to the networks that they give air time to the candidates for president. That would be sweet revenge for their smear campaign, but more importantly the vast amounts of money that's now being wasted could be freed up and possibly do some good. I've heard that by the time it's said and done, the candidates will have spent a billion, that's billion with a "B" dollars. Even with the dollar at an all time low, I'm sure that, that much money could be put to a lot better use.

I agree that the FCC needs to be reigned in, but unfortunately, the FCC has no authority over FOX News. They're a cable network. The FCC handles networks and radio.
