Hillary's Electabilty -- Bill's Procilivity

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Hillary Clinton may argue she's the most electable. But hubby Bill is certainly the most delectable. At least from a Republican point of view. Does anybody really believe that if Hillary's the nominee, Slick Willie's post-presidential sex life won't be fully unzipped by the time Flag Day rolls around?

By now you know Hillary's spiel. She's the one who's battle-tested. She's the one who's been dishing it back to Republicans for 16 years (or is it 35?). Only she can withstand the certain-to-come, withering, blistering attack that will be unleashed by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

Well, I'm ready to buy the second half of that equation. I have little doubt that whomever the Republican candidate turns out to be, he will wage a campaign just as bare-knuckled, just as amoral, just as ruthless and probably more so than the current quest by Billary to take out Obama.

But that first part? That Hillary's best-suited to withstand the heat of the flamethrowers because, among other qualities -- we're told -- there's nothing left to discover about her. There couldn't possibly be any new dirt about her to dish that hasn't already been sifted through a dozen times in public. She's safe, sanitized, inoculated and inert.

I'll buy that too.

But what about Bill?

Who out there reading this is willing to guess that there's nothing new to probe about his activities since he left office? Count me out, please. And while we're speaking of counting, the numbers I've heard out on the campaign trail have ranged from 5 to 10 and even twice that number. Is there any verification of this? Certainly not.

How long, however, will it take for whatever dirt there is to come rushing to the headlines as soon as it is politically convenient? We already are seeing the first not-so-subtle hints.

Will it be revolting that Bill's seemingly uncontrollable proclivities (and uncontrollable is the word I've heard applied to him from within the Hillary campaign) will be splashed across the tube? For sure. As disgusting as his own behavior has been.

Is it unfortunate, even sad, that one's personal life can be become a national political issue? Usually, I'd say (except, of course, when the public figure in question pretty much guarantees the eruption of scandal). We can debate for years and finally agree or disagree that these sort of matters are part of the legitimate debate. That they actually are has become undeniable.

Back in 1988, Bill Clinton wanted to take a run for the White House. And he balked not for the reasons he now claims -- that he was too green. Any student of the Clinton Dynasty knows that the Bimbo Question just wasn't under enough control at the time and he was dissuaded from taking the risk. Even when he waited four more years to run, after his staff and cronies had rounded up all the babes they could and persuaded and cajoled them to stay mum, Gennifer Flowers still almost sacked him. The rest, my friends, is history.

It also threatens to become our future.

I was living in Thailand when bush sr. and Billy Jeff came through for tsunami relief......the thought of Bill Clinton in Phuket without Hillary or Chelsea as Chaperone was truly freakin' scary....many of us wanted to head down and cruise Bangla Road to see if he was pub crawling.....

Yes, with the writer's strike, I've been working on a pilot for Comedy Central, similiar to the animated series they ran - 'Bush', it will feature Slick Willy as the kato kaitlin bachelor guy living out of the pool house having big parties at the white house when Hill's out of town, having the guys over for bowling night in the white house bowling alley. Gawd, if you think one bj was something, wait till I write the episode when Hill goes to the middle east and they watch PORKY'S style videos in the white house theater. It's going to be HILL-ARIOUS. In fact, I think I just found the title.

In Hillary's own book she talks about how shocked she was the night that Bill Clinton "confessed" to his fling with Monica. Problem is that the night she describes is the night before he went public and apologized. Are we really to believe that she was "shocked" at that point? Come on, we already had the DNA soaked dress, the whole world knew he was guilty. And his wife, who had been through these affairs before, was shocked?!?! I don't know what kind of sympathy she was looking for, but that was just a lie. No way in the world you could convince me she was shocked. Does she think we're all fools? SHE WILL SAY ANYTHING.

Most of the 261 earmarks with Clinton's name on them went to New York counties and municipalities, universities and colleges, and charitable organizations.

For the candidates still in the primary race, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) had 46 earmarks, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) had 10 earmarks, Kucinich had 9 earmarks and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had no earmarks, according to the CAGW. McCain has campaigned on having no earmarks during his time in Congress, and he has pledged to eliminate them if elected president.

This will hurt HRC as it becomes more public.

Please folks, the Clintons have already gamed this one out: as long as Hillary gets the nomination, then if Bill's recent girlfriends pop up, Hillary declares herself "shocked and saddened," they announce a trial separation, and Hillary's well-crafted victimhood rises even higher--Who, her supporters will demand, would deny a woman the Presidency because of the actions of her husband? If anything, if news of Bill's Burkle-funded romps with women comes out, Hillary assumes greater martyr role.

Bill's proclivity led him to be a consummate prevaricator. He enjoys his roles. Hillary doesn't see it or is ok with it.

America deserves better leadership.

Regardless of the whether there is or is not 5-10 more Monicas out there is that there is no good response for Bill. Once you are caught lying, no one will ever believe you, and you can bet that there will be plenty of money chasing whoever is willing to say anything. How are all those 50+ white women, HRC's core demographic, going to feel when they start hearing this. The problem is that this will seem to be returning back to the old. The public wants something new, and HRC already has a 50% negative over all--that is up 4% from a month ago, before Bill was "unleashed". You can bet if someone has a smoking gun on the GOP side, that they will hold it until HRC is the nominee, then unload it when it does the most damage.

The Clintons are the King and Queen of over 30 years of shady dealings, both in Arkansas and Washington. And now Bill is backing out of an economic deal in Dubai so it doesn't tarnish his wife's candidacy, somehow pocketing $20 million for his efforts. Can we shed a little light on this, general media? Bill and Hillary -- shame on you for your sleazy attacks. You have no place to talk.

Procilivity? What does that mean? I have a proclivity to be offended when I see words I don't understand...

People don't regard the office of "first lady" with the importance it deserves. And Hillary's supporters would do well to acknowledge the fact that in her election as president, it won't be just one "glass ceiling" that will be broken.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that Hillary is the best possible candidate to become the first woman president of the United States.

Is Bill really the best candidate for "first gentleman"?

This isn't just an issue of electability, it's a question of how will those things that used to be done by a first lady get done by a man. And, even if voters are able to look past the Clinton history, can we expect that foreign leaders will do the same?

Wouldn't it be possible that in order to not offend relationships with less progressive governments, Bill would be given the task of dealing with leaders that would normally be given to the president? Isn't it likely that Hillary, who has shown no qualms in using Bill's prestige to advance her chances in her bid for the nomination, would be equally flexible in using her husband to do things that should actually be the sole duties of the actual president?

The smears from the right regarding sex are a known quantity, but they are not nearly as doubt inducing as these questions about his role in Hillary's administration.

We don't need more doubt and obfuscation. America needs trust, transparency, and truth.

Obama in '08

(And how about Feingold as vice-president?)

80% of the people on this site http://barackforpresident08.blogspot.com/ say they will NOTE vote for Hillary if she gets the Democratic nomination. 9% say they will while the other 10% are undecided.

I spoke to a friend of mine in DC this weekend and she told me that the Republicans she works for are practically salivating. She thinks they have pictures of Bill in compromising situations that they intend to release fairly close to the general election. What troubles me about this is that Hillary apparently knows about this and has decided to sell her soul to the devil in order to be president. Letting Bill on the campaign trail was a gamble but it appears she thought she couldn't win without him. It will be a hollow victory if she looses the general because of him.

You Americans are just weird. Is it because you have so little of your own that you constantly have to obsess about the sex lives of others? Bill Clinton is a sexy guy, I'd do him anytime. Who the heck knows what arrangements the Clintons have in their marriage. Their marriage and sex life is nobody's business.
