Hillary Clinton may argue she's the most electable. But hubby Bill is certainly the most delectable. At least from a Republican point of view. Does anybody really believe that if Hillary's the nominee, Slick Willie's post-presidential sex life won't be fully unzipped by the time Flag Day rolls around?
By now you know Hillary's spiel. She's the one who's battle-tested. She's the one who's been dishing it back to Republicans for 16 years (or is it 35?). Only she can withstand the certain-to-come, withering, blistering attack that will be unleashed by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
Well, I'm ready to buy the second half of that equation. I have little doubt that whomever the Republican candidate turns out to be, he will wage a campaign just as bare-knuckled, just as amoral, just as ruthless and probably more so than the current quest by Billary to take out Obama.
But that first part? That Hillary's best-suited to withstand the heat of the flamethrowers because, among other qualities -- we're told -- there's nothing left to discover about her. There couldn't possibly be any new dirt about her to dish that hasn't already been sifted through a dozen times in public. She's safe, sanitized, inoculated and inert.
I'll buy that too.
But what about Bill?
Who out there reading this is willing to guess that there's nothing new to probe about his activities since he left office? Count me out, please. And while we're speaking of counting, the numbers I've heard out on the campaign trail have ranged from 5 to 10 and even twice that number. Is there any verification of this? Certainly not.
How long, however, will it take for whatever dirt there is to come rushing to the headlines as soon as it is politically convenient? We already are seeing the first not-so-subtle hints.
Will it be revolting that Bill's seemingly uncontrollable proclivities (and uncontrollable is the word I've heard applied to him from within the Hillary campaign) will be splashed across the tube? For sure. As disgusting as his own behavior has been.
Is it unfortunate, even sad, that one's personal life can be become a national political issue? Usually, I'd say (except, of course, when the public figure in question pretty much guarantees the eruption of scandal). We can debate for years and finally agree or disagree that these sort of matters are part of the legitimate debate. That they actually are has become undeniable.
Back in 1988, Bill Clinton wanted to take a run for the White House. And he balked not for the reasons he now claims -- that he was too green. Any student of the Clinton Dynasty knows that the Bimbo Question just wasn't under enough control at the time and he was dissuaded from taking the risk. Even when he waited four more years to run, after his staff and cronies had rounded up all the babes they could and persuaded and cajoled them to stay mum, Gennifer Flowers still almost sacked him. The rest, my friends, is history.
It also threatens to become our future.

Stop acting viscerally and please fact check ... for those who says Obama has a corrupt past --- WRONG I will use NPR's site http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18335120
Now do you want to fact check the Clinton's record of corruption? I mean do you really want to do a comparison? Please ...
Barack Obama brought a breathe of fresh air to politics he inspired people and could have potentially transformed and healed our nation.

Although I agree with it, I can't read this article right now; I'm too busy watching gay waterboarding diaper fetish porn and snorting meth. Perhaps after I get through accepting bribes from defense contractors and solicting sex from street prostitutes, underage pages, and strange men in bathrooms, I'll find the time to give it a peek.
-Typical Republican who critized Bill during the 90's.
.
The Billandhillory are not against torture!
And of course more info on Bill's sex life. UGH!
Why don't these people have the sense to get out of the spotlight??????
.
We republicans are way ahead of you.
We know that what people really want in this election is 'change', and since we are the party that is sensitive to what people want (at least 26% of them), we're not going to roll out the old, tired bogus claims against Bill Clinton - we're going after Hillary with new stuff. As an example, this talking point memo is going out this summer:
Attention loyal Republicans!
Several Republicans have noticed a single theme emerging since Hillary Clinton announced her candidacy for President of the United States. The following is a partial list of deaths of persons connected to Hillary Clinton and facts regarding those connections. All loyal party members are expected to memorize and transmit this information this summer the moment the secret signal is given.
-- THE HILLARY CLINTON BODY COUNT –
MYSTERIOUS DEATHS SINCE HILLARY ANNOUNCED HER CANDIDACY
1. ‘Lady Bird’ Johnson (widow of the late President Johnson, not a basketball player). Hillary was overheard making comments about LBJ signing some kind of ‘act’ just a few weeks ago. Evidently, this presidential signing ‘act’ repealed many of the rights belonging to members of our base to practice Republican values. Hillary Clinton’s husband, Bill Clinton, has also signed (but use "committed") acts’!
2. Henry J. Hyde, 83, powerful House Republican who led impeachment of Clinton and later admitted to having an extra-martial affair (with a woman! —unique in the ‘annals’ of Republican history)!
4. Tammy Faye Bakker, 65, evangelist. Bad blood brewed for years between Bakker and Hillary because Hillary once told her “the only person who wears more eye-shadow than you is Rudy Giuliani”!
"Hillary Clinton may argue she's the most electable. But hubby Bill is certainly the most delectable. At least from a Republican point of view. Marc, that's as far as I care to read of your depraved article that reveals more about your personal vulgarity and lack of moral and ethical standards than it does about Bill and Hillary Clinton, the subjects of your obscene attack. I really wonder about voyeuristic peeping toms like you, found on both the extremes of left and right, who have nothing better to do than talk trash day in day out about other people.
It isn't Bill Clinton's sex life that'll snuff Hillary. It's Bill Clinton visibility anywhere near her that will seal that fate. He needs to find something else to do and let her seep into the minds of Americans as a real person, not Bill Clinton's quasi-wife. That guy is a pathological narcissist with rage issues that are totally out of control. This whole thing is making a mockery of Hillary and damaging the Democratic party. Hillary's best move would be to say to Bill on national television, "I don't need you to run my campaign. I'm actually quite capable of handling it on my own, thank you very much." That alone would get her elected. If she's as tough and smart as everyone seem to think, she needs to put a stop to this crap NOW!
(I'm shocked you aren't tearing down John Edwards for having a wife with cancer. How can he keep his mind on the country when.....)
Is this the best you can do? Michele Obama should be first lady because she's more like Barabra and Laura?
This is pretty sad.
And we all KNOW, right, *wink* *wink*, that a woman worth her salt could make sure her husband doesn't stray.
Good lord, this primary campaigne talk may well kick me back into feminist politics.
The sexism is just so obvious, it's sickening.
The idea of having Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Nominee is revolting enough! I for one cannot stomach the idea of having Bill Clinton around. God only knows what the hell he has been up to since he left office!!! He is a sleazebag, that much is true.
Unfortunately there is something about Obama that I don't like. The only Candidate running that I could happily vote for is John Edwards!!! Wake up America!
One group lusting in their hearts for Clintons in the White House are the comedians. Talk about four more years of a target-rich environment!
Take the Billster and the Hillster out of the equation, however, and no comic worth their salt won't flip-flop to the Republican side. Not a clinker in the bunch there. Standups, HBO specials, and long-running sitcoms await in the right wing.
Republicans should think long and hard before they think about attacking Democrats over sexual morality. They lost their majority because they couldn't stop preying on children and being in the closet and having affairs. This is the change you people talk about?
And what exactly will they dig up on Obama? Does it even need to be true? The fairy tale is that Saint Barack will somehow be immune not only to the ugliness of campaigning but to the process of politics once he's in office. His entire candidacy is staked on his supporters' belief in magic. This is how religions get started; it's not how presidents should be elected.
I agree with this post.
I asked this question a while ago on Salon because I have friends who used to work in the same building as Bill's foundation in NYC. The talk of the building was his extra-curricular activities.
The issue is even more relevant now that he is taking such a huge role in Hillary's campaign.
If he's had any extramarital activity since leaving the White House it WILL become an issue in the general election.
THE QUESTION MUST BE ASKED DURING THE PRIMARIES
I was very angered by the way his affair with Lewinsky came to light and felt it never came close to an impeachable offense. That said, I also felt it was incredibly irresponsible and self indulgent on Bill's part. Ultimately it is HIS fault because he knew the Repubs. were going after him and he just couldn't keep it zipped.
Now he's taking on the attack dog role for his wife (would we even know who she is if she weren't married to Bill?) and acting like his s**t doesn't stink. I say let's find out.
Better now than later.
My computer must be screwed up, cause I thought I was logging onto HuffPo, and I ended up on some right-wing website where everyone is obsessed with Bill Clinton's sex life. What's up with that?
Need I remind you folks that Bill Clinton's approval rating hovered around 60% while he was being IMPEACHED for LYING UNDER OATH about an AFFAIR? My point? NO ONE CARES who Bill sleeps with. Well, except for the MSM, right wing blogosphere, and apparently, a number of folks here at HuffPo.
As for Hillary's "electability", I can't help but notice that she's won the only two elections she's been a candidate in, and in the primaries, she keeps winning when the MSM said she was going to lose to Saint Obama.
And yet, she keeps winning. She's ahead in the national polls. How any of this leads to "unelectable" is quite frankly a mystery to me.
My favorite, though, is the charge that Hillary is "divisive". Frankly, anything that divides me from the Christofacist/NeoCon lunatics currently running the country seems to be a good thing.
Also, does anyone really believe that the Republican's aren't going to attack WHOEVER is the Democratic nominee? Of course they're going to attack Hillary. They'll attack Obama. They'll attack Edwards. It's what they do. It's called their "strategy".
I understand that a lot of folks here don't like Hillary. But may I humbly suggest that when that hatred causes your writings here to resemble what can be seen on Townhall or Freep, perhaps you should rethink what you're doing.
I'm disgusted with everyone on here. Democrats and progressives at each others throats over nonsense. We're destroying both of the candidates and providing all the necessary ammunition for a Republican slime campaign that we will have already bought into in our communities (HuffPo etc..) We should all be heaving a big "ho-hum" over potential revelations of Bill's sex life. It should not matter and we only play into the hands of the right to engage in this kind of scumbag dialog. We're supposed to be so enlightened and tolerant - let's start acting like it and not play moral blame games.
Check this out.
