10 Incredible Breakfast Recipes

Posted: 10/25/11 01:26 PM ET

No one else really needs to tell us the importance of eating breakfast. It's been drilled into our brains as the most important meal of the day, and studies have shown that eating breakfast helps weight control and improved performance. But not just eating any ol' breakfast (like a donut when we're running late). It's only eating a satisfying breakfast that can give you that improved focus and concentration needed for work, endurance to engage in physical activity and to keep down cravings throughout the day. Of course, if you're all healthy all the time, you may want to stick with a quick smoothie. But if you are in need of new recipes to spice up your breakfast routine, you're in luck, because with the help of Food Republic, I've put together a list of 10 incredible breakfast dishes that will ensure you always leave your house full in the morning and ready to start the day.

Egg, ham and cheese; this killer trio is one of the Western world’s great culinary unifiers. Galette is a French word used to describe any kind of flat, round cake. In this case, it is a flat buckwheat pancake, a savory version of a sweet crêpe. The protein in this dish is bound to prepare you for any tough day ahead!

Ooh those red velvet pancakes look heavenly. They look a little rich for breakfast though- I can see making them for a "breakfast for dinner" kind of meal.

About once a month or so I do a cream cheese version of that. I blend almond extract into some cream cheese, spread it on a slice of oatnut bread, top with another slice of oatnut. Beat eggs with a little milk and a dash of cinnamon, dip cream cheese "sandwiches" in the egg and fry in extra light olive oil. Top with mounds of fresh sliced strawberries and dust with sifted powdered sugar.

I've also blended banana with the cream cheese then topped with strawberries and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Like a banana split french toast. Once a month doesn't kill you and it's one of my families favorite weekend brunches!

not a brekky guy - i drink too much - but as w/ most recipes - way complicated - if u must eat such rich food - hows this

basically swedish pancakes

flour -any kind - an egg per serve - any past use by dairy stuff in fridge - lemons - sugar - non stick pan

brew up a batter - peel the lemon rind after a rinse & scrub - maybe a sizzle in butter to mellow it - add batter - flip - when done flip - seerve - add lemon juice & sugar - simple - rind will make u burp - meh

Here's a quick one:
1. Start frying up a few eggs. I use olive oil - watch the heat!
2. Once they're starting to move along top with kimchi and flip it over.
3. Serve on top of rice.

I wonder if I could get away with using puff pastry for #1 the Galette Complete? Looks so yummy with a little savory and a little crunch.

The red velvet pancakes and stuffed french toast seem more like a dessert than breakfast. The sugar crash from them would not get you off to a very rip roaring start to your day.

ah, revised toad in the hole - one of my favorites !

"Revised" is certainly the correct word!
A 'Yorkshire Pudding' batter is correct but, then, one simply puts short lengths of sausage into the batter. When removed from the oven, the toads (sausages) appear to be popping their dear little heads out of it.

Not one of those breakfasts is original. I think they are just giving their version of the old recipes.

Thank you for including a grits recipe. As a southerner, I love grits, but must limit my intake of them. But last Sunday, my tummy was a little queasy, so it was grits for breakfast for me.
But I don't think I could tolerate looking at lobster tentacles anytime before noon.

Good grief! Recipes like these for breakfast (breakfast for Ann's sake!) and you wonder why and how obesity is an epidemic in this country. Good lordy... how can you indulge in so much fat and calories (meat? ham? sausage?... hello!?) in the morning and expect to have a productive and blossom day full of energy?

A small bowl of whole wheat cereal with soymilk or almond milk (or cow milk, for others), a banana or an apple (or your favorite fruit pick), a glass of OJ (if you have time, press your own fresh from the big yellow O or preferably grapefruit)... these items, I was saying do the whole trick for me and I skip lunch almost everyday (I will take an apple or a banana with me for my early afternoon snack). I would have an omelet (plain) with whole wheat toast once or twice max a week for breakfast or the very American Classic, good ol' American PBJ just for a change!

So thanks, but no thanks!

I am a "swell person" simply because I said what I would rather eat? The author shared his ideas of what constitute a great breakfast menu and I shared mine, why is it a problem with montanadan?
