Born in Chicago and raised in rural New York, I am currently living out my final year of high school in a small town in Southern Vermont -- an area of America that can seem like another country at times! I love art, reading, and playing the violin, as well as science, an area in which I hope to be studying in college soon (preferably in a big city). I also seize every opportunity I can to travel. I've been to England, The Netherlands, France, Belgium, India, and China (where I stayed for five weeks with the Experiment in International Living). Additionally, I am Belize-bound this spring. Most importantly, I enjoy taking all of these things (and more) that I feel passionate about and bringing them all together in writing.

To Share or Not to Share

I've always been a relatively private person. So, needless to say, when I took a class based solely on reflective, personal writing last year, I had a difficult time. It seemed that every other kid in the class had no problem pouring their hearts and lives on to paper. When...

Trying Not to Be a Travel Cliché

Posted November 4, 2011 | 11/04/11 10:28 AM ET

Travel essays have become cliché for a reason. An increasing number of high school students are going abroad, and finding their lives and perspectives changed in exciting ways. I'm included in this population, having spent a summer in China with the Experiment in International Living two years ago,...

Why it's Time to Organize the Occupation

I want to write about the Occupy Wall Street protests for my first Huffington Post blog. After all, it's an exciting movement that is happening right now and our country has been in desperate need of this type of large-scale political activism for a long time. However, despite following the...
