Singer, writer of lyrics and poetry, documentary filmmaker and performance artist, Marianne Dissard was born within sight of the Pyrénées mountains in the South of France but has lived in the American West since the age of 16. Her lyrics are sung by herself, Françoiz Breut, Howe Gelb and Naïm Amor. She directed several documentaries, including "Drunken Bees" on Tucson band Giant Sand. Calexico fans will recognize Marianne as Madame to Joey Burns' gold digger on Calexico's hit single, "Ballad of Cable Hogue". In 2008, Marianne released her first album, "L'Entredeux", co-written and produced by Joey Burns of Calexico. A 15 months tour supported its release, from Europe and North America to Oceania. The album won a Coup de Coeur from France's Académie Charles Cros and Top Ten Best French Album of the Decade status. Marianne is currently recording her second album, "L'Abandon", in Tucson.
