Marisa has done a ton of cartoons for a lot of great magazines and
was the first cartoonist ever to have an ongoing comic, "The Strip",
in The New York Times. She is the author of two graphic memoirs, one of which, CANCER VIXEN is about her battle with breast cancer. In it, Marisa sketched herself kicking cancer's butt, had that image in her head for the entire year she received treatment for breast cancer, and feels that in a weird way, she literally drew herself healthy. A
percentage of the proceeds of Cancer Vixen are alloted to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and to The Cancer Vixen Fund, which Marisa has started for women who are uninsured. Today Marisa is
cancer-free, and she is presently working on a new Graphic Novel.
