Newsflash: there are other records coming out this year besides Lady GaGa. And some of them, in my opinion anyway, should be even more hotly anticipated.

Bonus: most of them wear pants!

Here's a list of the Most Anticipated Indie Album Releases of 2011 (so far). Take a look, vote, and let us know who's left out.

Bright Eyes,
1 of 12
Fresh from a series of solo projects, Conor Oberst reunites with Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott for the 7th Bright Eyes record. High school students with displaced angst now can breathe a sigh of relief - but so can everyone else, as few others craft songs that so aptly capture the complex and personal emotions of being a human in modern day America with such a firm grasp of our musical roots.

Some bands write for themselves, some for their audience - with Oberst, we're never quite sure: his songs have the unique quality of expressing both confidence and insecurity at the same time.

Coming February 15th on Saddle Creek, available for preorder now.

The new Adele record is going to be really solid too. If the rest of it is anything like “Rolling in the Deep” it is going to be sick. It will be nice to actually hear well crafted pop music sung by arguably one of the best female vocalist of my generation. Have you seen the video for that song? Flawless http://bit.ly/hTxhHy

CAKE! I'm excited to hear what they have in store on the new album. Haven't heard much from them in the past few years, but I've always been a fan. Their songs are notoriously catchy and they've done a great job of staying true to their sound, which can get monotonous for some bands, but somehow not for them. Hope they surprise us by switching it up a little, but remind us why we love them so much by sticking to what they know and do well.

What about Black Dub?

are any of them actually "indie" albums?

I am likely bias but I think Hayes Carll should be on the list - http://www.hayescarll.com/store/.

Most the bands listed are pretty meh (I can get on board with Tenement's comments). So tired of hearing about Bright Eyes, M83 and Bon Iver. All overrated to be sure.

Deerhoof's upcoming was criminally excluded from this list!

Not any huge expectations for the year, but mostly anticipating Akron/Family, J Mascis, Kurt Vile and perhaps Peter, Bjorn & John if we are speaking "indie" as in the pop rock & folk sense that your list seems to indicate.

My most anticipated album of 2011 is Cut/Copy's 'Zonoscope'. Really, I'd give them the award for the band that has made the most of 80's influences, with nobody even being a close 2nd. M83 are...meh. Yawn. Cut/Copy make one great song after another, and are awesome live. But they're not American or British, so they tend to get ignored.
