The Hague, Netherlands - One of the Bible's most famous sayings is found in Matthew 5:5, which states, "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." The world's largest organization of meek members has lost patience and wants its inheritance now - it is suing to inherit the Earth! The International Meek Persons Organization (IMPO), a world-wide society of 58,000 members and growing rapidly, is presenting a class-action lawsuit before the International Court of Justice, the United Nations' principle organ of justice, on behalf of the world's meek.
IMPO spokesperson Wendell Sherman explains, "We're fed up waiting for this inheritance that may or may not kick in, and God knows when. We've decided to become proactive and go after what the Bible says is to be ours! Am I coming off too mean or angry? Too materialistic? I didn't hurt your feelings, did I? Please don't think ill of me."
The lawsuit asks the International Court of Justice to legally transfer ownership of the Earth to IMPO. This will, in effect, make the world's meek the owners of the entire Earth, placing them in charge of every country. "How cool is that?" adds Sherman. "One day we're wearing pocket protectors, plaid pants and taped-up eyeglasses, getting beaten up constantly - the next day, we own the world! Sorry, I didn't mean to be boastful. I'll just go sit over here in the corner and keep quiet."
