Remember all the jackass comments by whackjobs such as Rev. Pat Robertson and Rev. Jerry Falwell on why God sent planes into the World Trade Center on September 11th and why he sent Hurricane Katrina to level New Orleans?
So, I ask these same charlatans, why is God contemplating such a thing?
Planners of the Republican National Convention in St. Paul held emergency conversations Wednesday about what to do if a tropical storm continues on its track as a potential Category 3 hurricane threatening New Orleans.
Gustav’s projected path suggests possible landfall on the convention’s opening day — Labor Day.
The storm could threaten everything from President Bush’s Monday night address to the broader Republican message of effective government management.
Local officials fear a Katrina II — a rerun of the storm that ravished New Orleans and badly damaged Bush’s image.
Update: If I'm not mistaken, President Bush is scheduled to speak at about 8pm on Monday. Think about this for a moment. Here's the latest National Weather Service forecast:

Good post. The reason hurricanes are not an act of god, except for insurance and legal purposes, it's because they are part of the natural and physical world. Robertson and his gang of hucksters and religion peddlers are in business to make money.
The reason why God is sending another hurricane is easily explained: There is no God creating and directing hurricanes.
We live on an active planet that orbits a star 1 million times larger than Earth. Hurricanes and tsunamis and earthquakes occur because we live on a friggin planet. Any "meaning" is human-fabricated, much like "God" itself.
Someone needs to remind Mr. Nickolas that the Republican Convention is being held in St. Paul, Minnesota and not New Orleans. Furthermore, I don't believe Minnesota is under any kind of threat from Hurricane Gustav.
I don't blame the Dobson's & Robertons etc. -- they're only flim-flam men trying to hustle a dishonest buck (a lot of dishonest bucks, really) with their song & dance. Holy Roller have always been the worst kind of evil. Just ask a Catholic Priest about abused children some time. Or visit one of these "men of god" at their 30,000 seat churches.
What I don't understand is how there can be so many people who listen to and believe these quacks, even though they are proven wrong time & time again.
On the other hand, they believe Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh and Bill Kristol, even though they've been proved wrong time & time again. How's that 6-month war going' fellas? And I hear that Madam Snowmobile you wanted for Veep is doin' a great job!
God has clearly demonstrated that She does not care who the President of the U.S. is....Think G.W.
tm
God was listening to all the NFL players and their fans trying to decide which team deserved his intervention and would send to the next superbowl, geesh. Next week is the start of the NFL after all!!
Its the Gays. That's why God sent the first hurricane three years ago.
But the Republicans have failed to stamp out homosexuality so God has to try again.
Simple.
like i said before God dont like ugly and he aint to cute about pretty.....u dont pray for bad things to happen to people it is NOT CHRISTIAN LIKE....they make christianity look bad and why we other Christians, like myself, find resentment towards Christianity!
Dobson wanted his followers to pray for rain at the DNC on Thursday. I would say his chickens are coming home to roost.
BINGO!
Ask and ye shall receive. Dodson is another idiot evangelical wingnut. I don't know why they bother to pray to God, they certainly are not men of God. Don't think God answers prayers for misfortune.
wel, according to Pat Bucanen (sp?) - it's not a National issue.
Honestly, and all politics aside, I do hope the Gulf Coast is spared. That area doesn't need any more disaster, and my prayers will be with the people of the Gulf Coast come Monday.
Maybe because Larry the Toe Tappers famous toilet is there?
Denver's forecast: sunny and bright! Clear skies and high hopes.
Hey if it doesn't rain in Denver tonight, does that mean God's a Democrat?
Somehow I don't think that God really concerns himself with the politics of the USA very much....
well, I certainly do know that Jesus preached Love - not Hate and Intolerance
