McCain Took $51,400 From Partners Of Law Firm Founded By Charles Keating, Including Own Nephew

Twenty years later and John McCain (R) is still lining his campaign pockets with contributions associated with Charles Keating, who you'll recall was Cindy McCain's business partner prior to the infamous Keating Five scandal which tarnished McCain's own political career.

On July 31, 2008, campaign finance records show that McCain accepted more than $50,000 in contributions from 41 partners of the Cincinnati law firm Keating Muething & Klekamp. As the name suggests, the firm was founded by Charles Keating. Among the partners who contributed was none other than Keating's nephew, William J. Keating, Jr..

There was no McCain fundraiser in the Cincinnati area on or around July 31st, so it appears that someone was bundling these contributions. Yet, no one from the Keating firm is listed among McCain's disclosure of bundlers of $50,000 or more. Was McCain reluctant to list someone from the law firm that Charles Keating founded as one of his bundler?

QUICK!!!! Someone pass this along to Faux News. Fox and Friends, O'Reilly, Hannity, etc., have to out of material on ACORN and Khalidi. Surely they would question McCain why he was still accepting money from those he was involved with in Keating Five scandal! Surely they would question his association with people who know people who have been convicted of crimes! Surely they would jump on this because the people have a right to know if a potential leader of the greatest democracy in the world has relationships with criminals. We know McCain denounced his involvement and has claimed that he learned a lesson, but if he is to be held by the same standards applied to Obama, they we only have his associations to judge him by. If Obama can't simply say he is not Muslim and be believed, then why should McCain be taken at his word?

I think that it's a testament to the kind of person Barack Obama is that he doesn't seize the NUMEROUS opportunities for negative ads about the kind of suspect persons both McCain and Palin are. After just seeing the mailer being sent out to swing states with the baby stroller on the tracks? Well, it's just kind of hard, personally, to try to stay on a high road. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is for the folks in the Obama campaign to hold back on the endless tried and true stories about McCain. I
