And They Say There's No Good Music Any More...

Disclaimer: one of the CD's I'm about to urge on you is by a band I'm really tight with (go way back with) and the other is by a friend of a friend. But I'm not going to let conflicts of interest get in the way of your pleasure.

Picks for the day:

Community League, Community Spirit. This transcontinental hip-hop collective (part American, part English) threw this EP together by working in person, over the phone, and over the web. The result is seamless, a mix of conscious rap, dub, soul... just check it out. For CD's, go to www.communityleague.eacrater.com -- for MP3 downloads, go to www.digstation.com/communityleague

Pete Yorn, American Blues, Vol, 1. This song has extra resonance now that we're in the Age of Obama. Man, when I lived in Cali I listened to Yorn's "Crystal Village" practically non-stop. We haven't had enough Yorn lately. This one rocks. Pretty sweet video.

Just a short one today, folks. Check out these tunes... as Damone says in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, you won't regret it.
