GET UPDATES FROM Marnie Nir
Humor, compassion and candor lead Marnie Nir in her work as a coach with The Handel Group®. A student of Slavic Language and Literature at UCLA, Marnie graduated with a B.A. and an understanding of Russian Literature as “purification through suffering.” Years later, after several jobs in publicity and production, most notably for the Moscow Circus, she began to see that, at least in her own life, suffering was optional. After marrying and giving birth to her first child, Marnie started coaching with her sister, Lauren Zander, creating the dream of who she wanted to be as a mother. However, her work with Lauren took everything in her life to a much deeper level. More than a decade later, she is now the mother of two, a trained coach in The Handel Method®, a freelance writer for the Palm Beach Post and the Sun Sentinel. She is currently developing an animated television series about the hilarity and absurdity of motherhood.

As with every area of her life, Marnie’s coaching is characterized by joyful honesty and courageous commitment. She brings lightness and levity to her work with her clients. "I have zero problem telling on myself. I use my inner jerk to point out theirs." Consequently she is continually inspired by the difference that telling the truth offers to her clients. For Marnie, it’s about building the muscle of personal integrity, where what comes out of your mouth is so. "In this way, you can really go from 'I will go to the gym,' to 'I will win an Emmy.'"

Having been married for more than 15 years, Marnie particularly enjoys working with wives, mothers and singles, because she is well-acquainted with the challenges they face. Marnie offers her clients the tools they need to author the lives they want, with wit, sincerity and her occasional truck-driver mouth.Visit her blog at: www.thesourmilf.com

You know how they say, "Karma's a b-tch?"

Boy, is she ever.

And though, admittedly, it has taken some time for me to fully appreciate her twisted sense of humor and how quickly I get "dinged" for my past -- whether it's having to go back to sleepaway camp to...

Ever wonder why no matter how many mean things your mother said to you when you were a kid (or yesterday), you remember only a select few?

Bet you think it's because, out of the gazillion mean things she said, the particular ones you pocketed were her...

Camp Karma

A few months ago, my friend Tammi (yes, I have one!) invited me to come lead a workshop at "Campowerment," a wildly fun, transformational weekend sleepaway camp for women that Tammi didn't just dream up, she actually walked away from her 34-year, Emmy-award winning producer gig to make happen.

I don't know about you (cough, cough), but to be perfectly honest, if I was waiting for the day I want to eat kale, exercise, jump my husband, or even write (which is my passion), I'd be fat, my husband would be bitter, I'd never have created and sold my...

Mothered UP

Different than man-ing, bucking or shutting up, at 48-years-old, I managed to Mother Up. What's it mean? Bet, if there were a sub-URBAN dictionary, it would read something like this:

Mother Up

(v) To eat the roll, baguette or what have you and blame the waiter who brought the...

Ever notice how your friends have some of your very same issues? Or, perhaps, coincidentally (uh- huh), their issues just may be more obvious than yours? Otherwise, would you really relate to and keep those particular friends around? Take a look. Sure, every once in awhile, we'll bring home a...

Peas in A Pod

You know when occasionally you find yourself complaining about how, had you REALLY known that your boy/girlfriend-type-thing or spouse was X (for the sake of argument, stingy with his/her freaking feelings) and very much not Y (oh, for the sake of a longer argument, warm and fuzzy like Grey's Anatomy's...

What Are You Smoking if Love Is Still A Pipe Dream?

(0) Comments | Posted April 13, 2012 | 7:17 PM

You say you want love. Seemingly, you are searching hard for it. Your friends would all nod their heads in agreement that you are doing the right things, or, at the very least, complaining loudly about it and, therefore, must care. Alas, it's all to no avail, because you have...
