Marta Lawrence is the associate director of new media at the NCAA where she regularly contributes to the Double-A Zone blog, NCAA News Online and Champion Magazine. Prior to joining the NCAA, Lawrence was a featured columnist covering homeland security for Security Management Magazine in Alexandria, Virginia. She has written for the Dayton Daily News, Cincinnati Enquirer, Daily Press in Newport News, Virginia and BusinessWeek magazine. Lawrence graduated from the Western College Program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she majored in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in new media journalism.

During the big-air skateboard competition at the X-Games last week, Danny Way smashed his foot at the top of the half-pipe, falling 50 feet before coming to rest. The injuries looked devastating.
