Whatever happened to Liberal compassion? What has become of Liberals being sympathetic and understanding about the CAUSES of criminal behavior? Aren't Liberals supposed to care about the depravations that lead a pure, otherwise unblemished individual to a world of deceit and mendacity?

Where's the PITY?!

Please spare a thought today for poor Dick Cheney.

Unloved, castigated on an hourly basis.

But now we know the root of his ailment!

He's never had the opportunity to get to know any "fine individuals" or "honest men"!

If Scooter Libby is "one of the finest individuals I've ever known" and "one of the more honest men I know" - then shouldn't we have some feelings of compassion for this poor man? Shouldn't we all act like a "yenta" and try to "fix him up with someone honest"?!

Just think about this man's life of woe...

A man so dedicated to the betterment of society in the 1960s that he selflessly turned down five opportunities for free travel to broaden his mind. "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."

In 1969 he became an intern serving under RICHARD NIXON.

In 1974 he worked with DONALD RUMSFELD in the Ford administration

In 1976 he worked as Ford's Election Campaign Manager under JAMES BAKER

1978-1989 he worked as a Congressman and had to associate with other REPUBLICANS who FORCED him to vote against the implementation of Martin Luther King Day, the creation of the U.S. Department of Education, the funding of Head Start, economic sanctions against apartheid South Africa and a resolution calling for an end to Nelson Mandela's imprisonment.

1989-1993 - he worked for GEORGE H.W. BUSH as Defense Secretary - with PAUL WOLFOWITZ as his under secretary.

1995-2000 - he was Chairman and CEO of HALIBURTON - where he was made to hire the ARTHUR ANDERSEN accounting firm to do the books.

2001 onwards - he's been Vice President to GEORGE W. BUSH.

Now come on! Be fair... When has this man had the opportunity to meet and associate with quality people?!

So here's the challenge my fellow HuffPosters!

Let's find Dick Cheney some decent friends!

Can you suggest some individuals for Dick to meet who would be finer than Scooter Libby?

Can you recommend anyone more honest than Scooter Libby as a play-pal for Dick?
