What gift can we give Karl Rove to celebrate his impending departure from the White House?

Easy.

Take a hint from the chorus of the 16th century sea shanty quoted above.

"Since roving's been my ruin"

(The word 'ruin' is actually sung as three syllables -- ROO-eye-enn)

Let's ensure that the four-letter word ROVE and the four-letter word RUIN become synonymous to the Republicans and conservatives.

Give the gift that will eclipse Rove's election "victories" of 2000 and 2004.

A staggering landslide against the diseased politics of personal destruction so successfully prosecuted by Rove.

There is no point in us crying over the spilled milk of Rove's "electoral" achievements. The man who learned all about the electoral process as a young acolyte of Richard Nixon loyalist Donald Segretti (the CREEP operative who proudly called his campaign tricks "rat-fucking") -- and as a colleague of Lee Atwater -- was wickedly cunning and successful.

The eight-year aberrant interregnum of George W. Bush is a crime for which Rove will have to answer to his maker for.

While Donald Segretti was convicted for his Watergate crimes and landed in prison -- and Lee Atwater had the good grace to repent for his sins before succumbing to a brain tumor -- Rove is retiring intact and with nothing serious threatening his future apart from his ever-expanding waistline.

But as the plump Gauleiter of the Bush era retires to the Texas where he first learned to apply slime and mud in pursuit of power, the final chapter in his story has not yet been written.

The "rise" of Bush's Brain has been well documented. It is our duty to ensure that there is an even greater "fall."

Not by some attempt to nail him legally. The man is made of Mazola. He defines the word oleaginous. He will slip through any legal process.

The way to ensure that a stake is driven through the "reputation" of Karl Rove is by working hard to ensure an electoral landslide against the Republicans in 2008. A landslide of Johnson vs. Goldwater dimensions.

Drive the Neanderthals back to the Stone Age . Return Karl Rove back to the slime from whence he emerged.

Let the Republicans learn that going "a-Roving" may have paid off for eight years -- but that ultimately it has been their ROO-eye-enn.
