Well here's a fine to-do for all those wingnuts in Cloud-Cuckoo-Land!

It's time for the Republican Party to 'ex-Foley-ate' itself again as yet another gay-hating, homophobic, social conservative is caught with his pants down - and literally in the closet.

Senator Larry Craig has not only been a vociferous opponent of the gay movement (except apparently his own gay movements) but it turns out to that he is yet another steaming hypocrite who has pandered to the vast gay-loathing base of the Republican Party.

Only like so many Republicans who have come before him (insert your own joke here) - he is revealed by his recent actions and guilty plea to be a self-loathing gay.

But what is priceless is the excuse he offered to the policeman who arrested him.

Trying to explain why he was playing footsie with the man in the next cubicle in the airport toilet - he came up with this all-time classic. So fallacious that it sounds as if it came out directly of George Bush's mouth.

Nope - I'm not making it up!

So I thought I should look and see what Senator Larry Craig's "wide stance" is on the topic of that most cynically named of all Karl Rove's favorite wedge issues: "Family Values"

(As all thinking people know - the term 'Family Values' is a political branding as Orwellian and meaningless as 'Moral Majority' and 'compassionate conservative'. "We favor this looney position - therefore everyone who doesn't agree with us on this topic is against the first word in the topic name. i.e. im-moral, un-compassionate, anti-family etc. etc.")

Anyway - it's one of the big planks that the wingnuts think/hope might save them next year - so they cling on to it like a drowning GOP Senator clutching at stances.

Someday, instead of name-calling and shaming, it might be a good idea to use one of these public displays to address the question of human sexuality, free of the moral and religious-values questions and ponder its meaning from an evolutionary psychological perspective. Mabye we'd discover why so many who enter politics and other high profile power-hungry positions are drawn to the risk and rewards of covert sexuality. Because it's odd, that so many are pointing out this Senator's moral indescretion, while excusing themselves from accusation, since they don't follow that morality. Yeah, I know it's about hypocracy, but really, to address hypocracy and not the root cause, free, as I mentioned, from religion and outdated notions of morality, is to loose the opportunity to really examine the nature of human sexuality, and to condemn ourselves to suffer more of these embarrasements which do take our focus away from real problems that need our attention.

Well, I was trying to follow all this, but I do not quite get it. Are you saying that men do not like women, but rather each other, and perversion? And now that social conventions of morality have declined over the last half century, it is all coming into public display? Oh! Well, it is a good thing that soon women will not need men at all, and will be able to have families without them, and I mean completely without them, not even any kinds of *banks*. Hopefully this will mean good riddance to bad garbage, when he is not re-elected in 2008, or better yet, decides not to run. The pacific northwest has long been addled by this creep, as senator in Idaho and Wash.DC. The long history of his "wide stance" on anti-equal rights for gays and lesbians has been a bane and scourge. He supported efforts to institute Idaho's version, ICA..of Oregon's OCA and their numerous initiatives to deny Oregonian and Idahoan gays/lesbians equal rights in their lives.(O/I­CA=Oregon/­Idaho Citizen's Alliance) My only fear now is that if he does come home, he will have more time and energy to devote to such homophobic endeavors.

This irony is too rich and typical of the hypocrisy we have seen all too often with the likes of citizens such as Craig, Foley etc., etc., etc....

I live in Oregon and while we are quite progressive on most issues, like Idaho..there are many "brain-dead morons" who do not find GLBT citizens equal in any way and therefore not deserving of equality in civil rights! We have fought the scourge of the OCA for 15+ years, with their many initiatives denying gay rights."No Rights for Sodomites" bumperstickers have graced many a truck and "american-made car." Much to my and many others' dismay, the right to marriage for GLBT Oregonians was voted down.

The stalemate of progressive voters in the cities and conservative (regressive) voters in rural areas has prevented most of those initiatives from being passed, so the OCA has moved it's focus to schoolboards and smalltown city councils, where their agenda is alive and well!

The homophobia brainwashing is wider than republican­~v~democra­t. I know of democrats and liberals who did NOT vote in favor of gay marriage, either! No, that right is deemed deserving only for Adam/ Eve, not Adam/Adam or Eve/Eve by all "brain-dead morons," no matter where they live or what party they belong to..including most of the democratic presidential candidates!
