What I remember most fondly about Oprah's endorsement for James Fried was the way she continued to support him even after his lies were revealed. That is, until several days later, after it became obvious the public (including her own fans) were turning against the guy. Then, suddenly, she was on Fried's case.

Funny how that worked out.

Why would the least talented person on TV who was very ,very lucky have any pull with intelligent voters?
The poster who mentioned that oprah endorses and exploits people through promoting irrational thinking like "The Secret" was 100% on the money.
She also gave us Dr phil the fraud. he has a degree in Political Psych ,whatever that is,but it is another reason to run far away from anything Oprah mentions.
I do like Obama better than Clinton because there is a slim chance he isn't owned by the Big Money interests and we all know that the Clinton's are bought and paid for.
Oprah's opinions are as worthless as Dr Phil's advice.

Oprah also gave us Dr. Phil, so she's obviously far from perfect. But it's not about her, is it? Please demonstrate some freaking substance, not grade school-level "humor". Since you're not originally from around these parts, let me tell you how our system works. You see, there are these things we call "primaries and caucuses", by which we choose what we like to call our "candidates." And the field has now been narrowed down to exactly two: Hillary and Obama. Hilllary is wonkier and boring, Obama is more big picture and INSPIRING. Also, he doesn't drag so much baggage into the mix. I used to admire the Clintons (I voted for, and contributed to both campaigns way back when), but I think it's time to move on. Please stop belittling Obama and his supporters as though we're all naive simpletons who don't "get it."

I have followed American politics intensely since 1966 and have been actively involved since 1984. And I know how it works.

I especially remember how it worked for the Dems in 1968, 1972, 1980, 1984, 1988, 2000 aand 2004.

martin,

i really don't see how either of these posts achieve the stated goal: to slow down the herd mentality in supporting the campaign of senator obama. if you wish to slow the herd down, genuinely address his policies and criticize what it is about them that troubles you. frankly, i find both of these posts (this one and the ed wood post) to be both petty and silly. you have not given me any reason to stop supporting senator obama or his campaign.

I have very few criticisms of Obama's policies. I will have no trouble supporting him for the presidency. My concerns are about Americans - not Obama.

I think the point of this is that every one makes mistakes. You should find out for yourself who to support!

Martin tell me why I should support the woman of the man who pushed for the repeal of Glass-Steagal? No my parents aren't loosing their house, just everyone else in their (very well off) neighborhood!

Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

What is your point exactly?

Oprah was deceived by James Frey, just as Hillary Clinton was deceived by George W Bush, and the weapons of mass destruction argument to go to war.

Are you saying because of her inability to see through his ruse, she wouldn't make a good president? Who are you endorsing in this race?

And before you answer, are you entirely certain the person you endorse has always been right?

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone...

It really is a joke--and testament to this season of Presidential Idol.

I really wonder why Obama is so compelled to surround himself with others all the time (and to compare himself and be compared to famous figures)--the flood of endorsements from DC establishment figures really lessen him entirely, as if he can't stand on his own.

Deperation is not pretty

===========MARTIN RESPONDS============

I assume that you meant "desperation". I wouldn't know about that. I do know that expressing concern and asking people to think carefully rather than stampede on blind faith - is a dangerous occupation. As someone who cares about the Democratic Party winning - and who will work as hard for Obama as for Clinton in the General Election - I am prepared to suffer the insults and brickbats - if some people are moved to ponder carefully before voting.

That's funny; didn't she have him back on after his fabrications were exposed and rip him? Maybe that is why she values honesty so much.

And it was just as funny the first time he posted it.

Thanks! Just being ecologically concerned. And concerned for the Democratic Party...
