White House To Smear Greenspan!

"I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil." -- Alan Greenspan (lifelong Republican) - September 2007
"The Republicans in Congress lost their way. They swapped principle for power. They ended up with neither. They deserved to lose." -- Alan Greenspan (lifelong Republican) - September 2007
"Bush's collaborate-don't-confront approach was a major mistake -- it cost the nation a check-and-balance mechanism essential to fiscal discipline." --- Alan Greenspan (lifelong Republican) - September 2007

That wizened old goat has spilled the beans! I thought you putting that tin medal round his neck would keep him on board with his fat mouth shut. Nixon was right. You just can't trust these Jews.

We have to deal with this immediately before the media turns it into something big. Even the saps we can normally rely on like Russert and Matthews are fans of Greenspan. And his "wife" works for NBC. So we have to defuse this bomb right now. Take him down.

I've drafted some talking points for Perino and I have copied Roger on this. We can depend on O'Reilly, Hannity and Hume to bury him. Perino will call Rush and Coulter.

Here's what I've got so far.

1) Reagan appointed Greenspan to head the Fed in '87. Reagan was already ga-ga by then.

2) Two months after Greenspan became Chairman of the Fed - we had the Black Monday stock market crash. Coincidence?! Think again.

3) His first marriage was in 1952 and only lasted one year. And then he was a "bachelor" again for FORTY FOUR YEARS. until he married Andrea Mitchell in 1997. From the age of 27 to 71!!! Can we say "Larry Craig"? (Find out if Greenspan ever visited Minneapolis)

4) Greenspan is 81. He's clearly lost it.

5) He wants to sell his book.

6) He's a dirty old man messing about with a younger trophy wife 21 years his junior. (Clear this angle with Fred first)

7) His wife is Jewish AND works for NBC.

Let's go for it!

Karl

Why do all these people speak out after they've retired or moved on to another job? While I applaud Greenspan for his honesty, he's not telling anyone anything they didn't already know. And he's telling it to late at that. If one of thes Repubs would speak out while still connected to Bu$hco., then I would be impressed.

The easiest smear would be to play Greenspan's 'the sky is falling with surpluses' talk to congress. Not only was it the green light to raid the treasury but it was clearly a hilarious fabrication.

Often wondered if BushCo had "blackmailed" Greenspan back when the debate for Tax Cuts was in the news. I mean Greenspan did a complete flip-flop.

Last night on 60 Minutes, Greenspan said he was only in favor of a SINGLE tax cut and not what Bushie and his
gang did.

However, Alan stayed quiet. Hmmmmm!

Now with Greenspan' book it appears he has gotten in front of the BushCo Gang. They can't touch him without hurting the Republican Party and their candidates.

Love it! Rove's tactics coming undone.................

DISGUSTING...EVEN THOUGH TRUE!
DISGUSTING, BECAUSE, LIKE GEO. TENET AND
NUMEROUS EX-THIS & EX-THATS...IF THEY KNEW
THIS BEFORE, WHY HAVE THEY WAITED UNTIL NOW
TO 'INFORM' US?

WHILE ALL THESE SO-CALLED UPPER-ESCHELON,
PATRIOTS RUB ELBOWS ON THE TALK SHOWS AND
WRITE THEIR MEMOIRS.....3780 TROOPS HAVE
DIED! (MY NEWPHEWS SERVED TOTAL OF 4 TOURS
IN AFGHAN & IRAQ...I DONT WANT THEM GOING
BACK &/OR DYING FOR A BUNCH OF LIES!)

WILL EVERYONE ELSE WHO 'KNOWS SOMETHING'
PLEASE 'COME FORWARD NOW' SO WE CAN GET ON
WITH AMERICA! WE CANT AFFORD THESE TRAITORS
IN OFFICE TO LINE THEIR POCKETS, OR LET THEIR
CLOSE FRIENDS (LIKE RAY HUNT OF HUNT OIL IN
DALLAS, TEXAS) USE INSIDER INFO. TO MAKE SIDE
DEALS WITH THE KURDS FOR IRAQI OIL.

LET'S 'OUT' EVERYONE IN GOVERNMENT WHO NEEDS
TO BE 'OUTTED' OF WHATEVER 'SIN' THEY'RE
INVOLVED IN...BECAUSE THEY'RE BEING
BLACKMAILED FOR THEIR VOTES! WHY ELSE DO
YOU THINK 'HOT-TUB-TOM' (TOM DELAY'S OWN
WORDS) WAS ABLE TO GET ALL THE VOTES HE
NEEDED.....HE TRAMPLED ON EVERYONE'S LITTLE
CONSCIENCE!

GREENSPAN IS NO DIFFERENT (& HE NEEDS THE $$)
WHEN 'W' GETS ON THE SPEAKING CIRCUIT TO
'FILL HIS COFFERS' (AGAIN, HIS OWN WORDS), I
WONDER WHO HE'LL SQUEAL ON? CHENEY?

Does it really matter, after Shrub bombs Iran, and pisses off Russia and China the U S may be just a memory. China don't need to attack us all they have to do is call in their chits, and its all over. Our dollar will be so usefull it will require a wheelborrow load to buy a gallon of milk.

If Greenspan or any one else is willing to whistle blow on this administration, he/she MAY just end up being an America Hero, in spite of their sleazy past(some are just too sleazy to pardon and lack the slightest chance of seeking redemption- just getting their ass out of a sling). This adminstration is so despised, even Bill O'reily could save his career if he actually knew anything of value to sink these guys (& gals). That's almost a Stephen King Novel- there is one fact that could save the world and the only person who has the key is Bill O-we're doomed

It's true the country was taken to war on false pretenses and a great many voices shouted into a void that Bush and Cheney were doing it for the oil. Now that the evidence is becoming clear and more facts are piling on the table, there is another consideration.

Who is going to profit? Will the American Treasury Department have funds returned to it?

Or will Ray Hunt and his cohorts take it all to the bank on their deal with the Kurds? Will Exxon reap the rewards in the south of Iraq? Will the money borrowed from China be paid back by the oil revenues in Iraq?

What will the American people realize?

I'm glad to hear Alan Greenspan speak out. I have to ask why and why now? I can't help but wonder when the other shoe will drop, the caveat one.
While I do believe we are in Iraq for the oil reserves and the $$, I also believe that as long we think we are there only for oil, we miss the big picture.
Neocons have been trying to position themselves more securely in the region since the end of the cold war. Their ultimate goal is to have a greater presence, a dominance in the region. Sure, it won't hurt that control of the oil reserves is part of the deal, but the real goal here is cultural imperialism, hegemony and all things that power brings, including oil revenues.

Osama bin Laden and his followers understand this, deluded as they are by religiosity; ditto on the neocons and their religiosity. Both the US policies and the actions of Al Qaeda are strategies to prevent the other from gaining that dominance. Both use sanctimonious religiosity toward a guise of freedom..'freedom-fighters'/'freedom seekers'. Both will bring us to the brink of destruction, before compromising that position. Why else blow up the oil wells? The "us~versus~them" mentality challenges each side for that dominance. One is as bad as the other in this stand-off. This is NOT only about the oil and we need a new paradigm at the OK Corral. Neither Alan Greenspan nor your frighteningly satiristic, yet likely scenario is that paradigm.

Thanks, Martin..for your humour and for indulging my not so humourous 'Debbie-Downer'-esque thoughts.

JoDeeVa,

I agree with you about the neocon dream of US domination of Eurasian resources, which in effect *is* a cold war mindset. The US must control the region to prevent potential enemies of the state from doing so, be that Russia, Iran, etc. This mindset somehow justifies the establishment of a permanent military presence in the region. Rebuilding Iraqi airbases further strengthens the "necklace," or American military presence, stretching from Europe to the Asian Pacific. Any nation that attempts to stand up to the US strategy to maintain control of the regions' resources will find itself imperiled.

Crazy mo-fos.

The main thing that the "Bushies" can't stand is the Greenspan actually liked and RESPECTED bill Clinton.

Oh, BTW: Does anyone remember that we had a SURPLUS when Bush took over from Clinton?
02:31 PM on 09/16/2007
The freedom-loving Iraqis, who want to be just like Americans, and have lined their streets with roses to greet us as liberators, would beg to differ with you.

They want to give us their oil, they can't wait to sign away all the future profits on it.

In the ultra-safe streets of Baghdad, where John McCain proved any American can fearlessly go shopping, its stunningly clear that Bush's well-thought-out strategy for the Middle East is 'accomplishing its mission'.

Never has a more successful Crusade defined a Presidency!

Oil? Hah! You've got to be kidding! Who said anything about oil?

This is about Freedom, and about the Vision of the Founding Fathers of our Christian Nation!

The liberated women of Iraq can't wait to exercise their political freedoms!

We will now rename every "Martin Luther King" Blvd in America to
"George W Bush" Blvd.

History will celebrate the genius of the first President to be chosen by God!

All we need is a few more defectors to spill the shit, but shrub may bomb Iran to distract us
02:26 PM on 09/16/2007
Will bomb Iran. The administration is building a military base near the border with Iran. It's a honey-pot to draw an attack. When the base is attacked Bush will blame Iran. Whether it's attackers were Nationalist Iraqis or Iranians.

Excuse me!

Go back to the Axis of Evil speech.

NO DUH!

These Neo-Conquers TOLD us all.

By their own MOUTH.

And with every Armageddon Crusader backing their play.

We didn’t listen. Never in America!

Really?

According to Rumsfeld we are talking 10 MILLION DEATHS if a full-scale nuclear attack is lunched.

WE did this!

If you remember BUSH has already authorized any necessary action against IRAN to protect American troops.

Sorry, that is standing orders for ANY OFFICER in the military of the United States.

Why be soooooo specific?
Why did Iraq fall apart?
Why no international peace initiative?
Why didn’t the reconciliation process start 4 years ago?

Doubt me?

WATCH!

All the best

If the WH had any sense of humor they would play Alan Greenspan's congressional testimony where he warned of the growing dangers of surpluses. The Queen of Hearts must take the rear as Alan ordered 'off with its head'.

Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Greenspan -- all the rats are scurrying for cover, but their legacy, 14 permanent military bases in Iraq, screams "mission accomplished!"

Greenspan a neocon? Are you spreading rumors?
01:34 PM on 09/16/2007
One of Clinton's biggest mistakes was reappointing Greenspan. Krugman said in the NYT years ago that G. was a GOP shill. And now another rat comes out with his Don't-blame-me book after enabling Bush in some of the worst mistakes in the history of the planet.

Okay, we had a guy running the Fed with Green in his name, and we all made money.
Now we got a guy with Bern in his name.

Wonder what'll happen now?

They'll go after Greedspin alright and they'll use any tactic to bring him down. The bad part for Greedspin is that his own testimony blessing every idiotic Bush move will be his downfall, not the typical GOP dirt slinging.
