President Palin

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Vice President Palin. President Palin.

Like it or not, John McCain, this is your case:

In a dangerous world, who will keep you safe? At a perilous time, who has the experience to face down the Russians, track down the terrorists, back down the Iranians, and bring peace to the Middle East? Who do you deserve to have a heartbeat away from the red phone?

Obama, you said the race is about presidential temperament.

Well, eat this, Barack. You want to see my presidential temperament in action? Sarah f*in' Palin, man. That's the ticket!

I laughed. I laughed hard. But I also agree... I can't WAIT until Hillary gets out there and says that she didn't put 18 million cracks into the glass ceiling so that McCain could make a mockery of it by putting an almost completely unqualified woman one chair away from the Oval Office.

I hope Hillary goes after that- really right now she is the only on who truly can, woman to woman

I couldn't of said it better myself. I gained a lot of respect for Hillary and Bill this past week and I personally can't wait to see Hillary make a mockery out of Palin. That plus the debates with Biden...Democrats...get our your popcorn and grab a seat. This is going to get interesting...

If I were a Hillary supporter, I think I'd be insulted by this. Expecting me to betray my party just because you decided to dangle a lady candidate in my face...you don't think much of me, John McCain.

Did no one notice Sarah Palin's remark shortly after McCain introduced her? She turned to her handsome husband and said "Today is our 20th wedding anniversary. I'm going to have a special treat for him tonight, and he knows that I can deliver!"
Wow! Where did she think she was? At some private party?
The political talking heads, on both sides, will probably ignore her offhand comment (too embarrassing), but Jay Leno and other late-night comics could milk it for laughs!

Yes, the Repugs obviously didn't learn any lessons when they chose that token black, Alan Keyes, to run in Illinois. Now they've chosen a "token Hillary" to run just because she has female parts. I can't wait to hear what Hillary has to say about Sarah Palin. This choice shows the real desperation the neocons are feeling. I am don't know Sarah Palin but find it hard to believe that she would allow herself to be put in this position. Either the RNC is dangling a very lucrative carrot or she's as batty as McSame!!!

Obama-crats, it is probably not smart to react with typical snarky blogger postings. Gov. Palin is going to appeal to many, many people in Middle America and the West.

As someone who is going to vote for Obama, she appeals to me!

That was a pretty great speech considering she had just been introduced to the world. Her optimism, enthusiasm and genuineness are going to draw more than you think to McCain's side.

I think if a turnip showed up beside McCain, you would have voted for that ticket too. Snark, snark, snark...

Except for the fact that I'm voting for Obama.

What you don't get is that when you go ahead and immediately vilify her or paint her as the female Dan Quayle, you are doing so at your own peril. It's as if you're dismissing the voters in PA, MI, Ohio and Colorado.

Great choice!! Democrates didn't want a women with all of hillary experience so the through her out. So obama doesn't want this to be about experience ( how conevient) so he got his wish. The sexist remarks have been coming out already let's see if the dems and the media do this to palin as they did to hillary i would think if they did it would backfire on them the nation is sensitive how as they should be.

You should really learn how to spell first before you criticize. Its DEMOCRATS not DEMOCRATES. Just something for you to chew on.

Everyone wants to laugh at this pick. Just be warned. Biden will have to lay off in their debate. You can't take the gloves off with her. It will be seen as poor taste. Let's stop seeing everything through rose colored glasses...ok?

I agree. It will change the game for Biden.

It will also change the definition of victory in that debate. It will be considered a victory if she simply survives - people will be saying, "Biden didn't destroy her - that wasn't so bad."

On the positive side, other than people who will vote for a woman and people who are one or two issue evangelicals, it moves the campaign back to the issues.

Barack was trying to accomplish the same move last night and so I think he'll be ready and I think it's healthier for the country than this "experience/celebrity" debate.

I think your right, now with a woman in the mix- people would be hard pressed to throw in sexism and racism- and now we will have to talk about issues to try to avoid them. So hope it works

No Way - If she wants to play politics and go to war with the 'old boys club' then she has to play the game - the game will not change to suit her...

it's a d*mn good thing Biden's been surrounded by strong, capable women all his life ... he can handle this. His momma taught him well.

This pearrrrrly whites of his will be put to good use... along with that mischievous twinkle he gets in his eye when the joke's really really good.

Talk about "audacity of hope" ...McMimic is at it again!

She is more qualified to be president than Obama. How funny is that? But then again most politicians are more qualified than Obama.

McCain/Palin08

You mean she has more experience being first runner up in a beauty pageant. Thats REAL experience to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

It is said that the choice of a VP is the first "presidential" decision that a nominee makes, the inference being that we can learn something about the nominee as putative presidential decision maker etc. What do the two VP selections tell us about the nominees? The answer (perceptions) about that will be interesting to see. I do know what these selections say to me, but I am more interested in the reaction of others right now.

I think it fits perfectly.

Barack was measured, thoughtful, chose based on a purposeful combination of filling a skills portfolio and creating a governing team.

McCain played politics in an ad hoc, reactionary way. Same thought process you can see in Iraq, with the "drill here, drill now" mantra, and the now-defunct "economic surge" attempt.

I think it shows EXACTLY what we'd get from their leadership styles.

I wonder if McCain will call her a c**t if she makes him angry. I guess so long as she never kids him about his hair she'll be OK.

McCain has just shown that he lacks good judgement, for that matter any judgement at all. Bill Mayer will have a field day with this tonight, his first night back to work. Jon Stewart will too on Monday. Now I am beginning to believe all the rumors of the exaggerations of his pow experience. Wesley Clark was right. His pow experience does not make him qualified to be president.
