Mary Ann Akers writes the popular Heard on the Hill “gossip” column for Roll Call newspaper.

Saucy, irreverent and full of scoops, “HOH” is an insider’s delight, taking readers behind the scenes on Capitol Hill and elsewhere in Washington, exposing the grittier side of politics, the after-hours lives of politicians and the lighter side of a town full of politicos who take themselves way too seriously.

Akers is a contributor to WMAL radio, Washington’s ABC affiliate, and other stations around the country. She also appears frequently on the Fox News Channel and other TV networks and cable stations.

Akers’ journalism background includes both print and broadcast experience. She was a reporter for National Public Radio for nearly four years, covering everything from politics and Congress to cultural trends and aviation, including commercial plane crash investigations and the government’s response to 9/11. Before that, she covered Congress for the Washington Times and for the National Journal’s CongressDaily publication.

Mary Ann hails from High Point, N.C. She graduated from Guilford College in North Carolina.

Apparently, Clinton and her staff felt snubbed when party leaders organized a news conference in which they...

In the irony-on-steroids category, guess who was defending his graduate thesis on Congressional ethics Monday? Cover your eyes and guess, then sit down for the answer.

It was Michael Scanlon. Yes, that Michael Scanlon, the one who has pleaded...

My Scoop on Spingate

Forget about the White House shakeup, Karl Rove testifying before a grand jury, the administration's firing of a CIA agent for allegedly leaking classified information or the fight over hideously high gas prices. The real story this week was about the Bush twins, damnit! And this time, they weren't even...
